RDU -Who is actually coming ?

Here is what I suggested before. Open to suggestions. Once we can agree on the route we can schedule times to meet along the way.

I'd also like to put together a list of contact phone numbers for everyone travelling to have with them. Happy to coordinate. I don't have a problem posting the list here but if anyone prefers they can PM or e-mail the details to me and I'll distribute it.

Given that it's a long ride we don't really want to piss fart around and back-track and stuff so maybe something like this works for us southerners. Not meaning to leave anyone out but using a few names to illustrate.

Day 1. Ponters leaves Melbourne, picks up Cobber at Wodonga and they spend first night at Gundagai. 505 km (170 for Cobber) or add 100km and stay at Yass.

Day 2. Ponters and Cobber head to Muswellbrook via Cowra, Bathurst. 530km from Gundagai (via Cootamundra) or 485 km from Yass.

Kiwi and I head to Muswellbrook via Campbelltown and Penrith. 515km

Hanso heads to Muswellbrook via Kangaroo Valley (lucky bastard) 520km, meeting up with me and Kiwi at Bowral or Campbelltown on the way. Or he can meet us in Goulburn adding 45km to his trip.

Day 3. We all head to Warwick 570km via Tamworth, Armidale, Tenterfield and meet up with TC, Mitch, Bruce, Binnsy, BigAl etc

Day 4. Look out Hervey Bay 454 km

Day 2 could be longer and Day 3 shorter if we stay at Tamworth (156km from Muswellbrook). Willow Tree is roughly in the middle of the two.

Anyone coming from the west could probably aim to hook up with us around Muswellbrook/Tamworth unless you fancy going through Broken Hill, Cobar or Bourke.

Those along the way can join up or "go their own way". Anyway, just food for thought. We could knock a day off and do it in bigger chunks of around 750km but I'll be more inclined to do that on the way home.

See how efficient i am:rolleyes:

thanks canberra

nearly brought a tear to the eye when i read 1 and 2.... you got no idea how much i was looking forward to that part.

Anyway, you fellas from Tas, SA and Vic wanting to join me on the ride up be warned, im taking a pitstop at cobba's grave as it wouldnt be right to ride all the way without saying gday. If you think its a waste of time, she's apples, i'll catch you in HBay.

I thought about removing it too but left it in on purpose. I've still got a couple of e-mails he sent me about the trip too (and other things like his intake. can't bring myself to delete them. He suggested a slightly different route for you 2 and we'd discussed my heading across to Yass and meeting you guys rather than going straight up to Goulburn. I'm still open to do that but will wait to see which way you will actually go and what Kiwi's doing - at this stage he's unlikely to be coming.

RIP Cobba mate. We'll be thinking about you all the way to the Bay.

Staunch Ponters!!!

G'day Ponters. I had the very same thought of " not " passing him by as he originally asked me if I would like to come along for the journey to HB. He always made me welcome when I was passing through so for me it is the right thing to do. I will give you a call as the time gets closer if that's ok. Regards M.

I'd join you but it's just too far in the wrong direction. You guys will have to pay respects for the rest of us. Make sure you get a pic of his headstone and bring it up with you.

Now I feel sad:( I wish Cobba was still around, not just for our sakes but for his family's sake, Cobba!! you are well missed my friend. RIP
