Ramair /induction noise ?

I sitting here waiting to hit order and im hesitating...

Is this upgrade worth the hassle and noise?

If you are upgrading from the standard air intake then in my opinion, YES.

I don't notice the "noise" that others talk about. Upgrading to an intake that allows the bike to breath better - be it a RamAir or triple K&N's - opens up a whole new world of power and torque.

I fitted one and had it on a dyno and was running on the lean side it was making about the same hp and torque as my unseat K&N filter, luckly for me the Tuner couldnt get TuneECU to talk to my bike saving me £200 so i never had set up 100%, but i didnt feel it made much difference over just having the secondries opened to 100% so i then refitted all the inducton plumbing which wasnt anywhere near as bad a people make out.

Does it make the bike sound meaner under throttle?
I can recall fitting an AEM cold air intake on an old Subaru Impreza of mine. It made the car sound meaner!

well you missed out on the gains to be had because as you said it was running leaner, give it the right amount of fuel and you would have gained a improvement

sound would definitely be meaner and if given the right amount of gas you should not get the squeaky crickets (which happens when there is excessive vacuum) just the jackhammer and the induction roar but if you use one of Les's OzClaws it will be brought down to a nicer level as he painstakingly puts a sound deadening liner in and when I rode his bike recently must saI enjoyed it lower volume roar

The fact that it was running lean without retuning was actually a good sign, because it was breathing better. But a new tune that adds more fuel is obligatory, to get significant power gains.

I changed from underseat K&N to Ramair, and had a custom dyno tune made for it on a PCIII. I got a 15hp gain, and I can feel the change a lot. The whole character of the bike was transformed, and now it is hungry for revs! :D Highly recommended.

Mine is being dyno'ed today. The @HansO tune that is currently in the bike is great. The dyno will be used to validate and fine-tune that map. Oh, and to coax a couple of extra horses out of the engine.
