In particularly hot areas with engines that are running high compression or boost, a 1.3 bar radiator cap, water wetter and a reasonable coolant ratio or distilled water setup would be a good "stock upgrade" to help prevent detonation.

I like the one I found because its a 1.4 bar not a 1.1 bar, but a 1.1 at a cheaper price is a win! The extra pressure, I'm hoping, will keep the bike from throwing quite as much fluid out of the radiator into the reservoir whilst simultaneously allowing for a higher heat capacity in the cooling loop. I may go to a 2 bar cap, not sure yet.

Nope! The locking screw is over engineering and finding a fix needing a problem at its finest imho.

Actually I think it is part of the problem. In the past folk have removed the lock screw and achieved a better seal.

Rob. At what temp are you switching the fans on? I had them set to come on early but I have a feeling I put the setting back to stock. I am going to take a look at mine today - amongst other things.

DEI radiator relief if you decide to use a water wetter!. I do on Wayne Tripp's advice.

97c is activation temp.

My problem started on an 88f day that was humid and I was riding the balls off the bike, holding 4500+ rpm through a 4 mile set of twisties up and down 2nd and 3rd gear, which we’d run, u turn, run, u turn, run, u turn, run and stop for a break. Essentially a 6 session trackday type day. There were a calamity of things that led me to suspect head gasket but I’m trying this first since there are zero other head gasket symptoms that present.

So the 1.4 I’m going to use and give the cooling system every opportunity to do its best before I rip the head off.

But was a PITA in the UK and yesterday had to sit whilst the police/ambulance picked up assorted bits.

I was told that the water pump starts to cavitate at 4000. Food for thought.

I like the built in temperature gauge, looks cleaner than the stock cap. I wonder if you can get it at the stock pressure limit?

I have been thinking pump, it’s super suspect. Looking into this as a retro fit replacement in the stock location. I have the extra electrical capacity, full led conversion and zero accessories that draw any load:

Or the 80 version which comes with in/out provisions similar to rocket stock and is a bit smaller.
