You could always ride up to I-90 somewhere and hook up with my group on our way to Spearfish.
Will be crashing at Missoula, MT the 15th and Columbus, MT the 16th.
Arriving Spearfish on the 17th.

Let me know if you can do this as I shall then reroute my group coming from Missoula to hwy 12 at Garrison onto Helena.
About 2 hours from Missoula to Helena, so we could arrive there around 10-11 AM on the 16th.

Or you could take Highway 200 out of Missoula ( the east side) over to Helena.

Stop for a few minutes in Lincoln at the Ranger Station to see a huge stuffed Grizzly Bear. Was hit by a truck a few years ago. You would also be going over Rogers Pass, near the spot where the coldest temp was ever recorded in the lower 48 (-70F). SCAN Web 6.0 - Camera

If you didn't want to see the bear you could go via 200 and drop down to 12.

When in Montana have some 20 dollar bills available, you can pay your speeding tickets on site with Officer Friendly. Or at least that used to be the going rate.

I do not know yet where to stay but I do not want a $200 room in spearfish so I will check around and see what is available I think friday is about right for arrival .. as I am in a small town east of des moines
