I've camped at that KOA many times over the years; recently though I've sworn off of them. They're currently catering to the older crowd that tends to setup camp on a semipermanent basis; you'll see them settled in with lighting and steps and landscaping and whatnot. This means you're absolutely QUIET at night....which we're typically NOT. I don't mean loud parties, I mean TALKING ist verboten, for the most part. I would not typically recommend them. And they would NOT like my Carpenter exhaust at night.

Primitive camping is where the fun is at.

there is a primative campsite that has a couple small r/v sites but mostly tents, above Ouray. It's called Amphitheater...

There is another campground, mostly r/v but also alows tents, right in Ouray, across the river.

There are cabins with full facilities and bare 'camping cabins' (no bathrooms) also in the area...

July/August weather is nice in the mountains but too hot most everywhere else...

it's pretty nice this time of year..

Its a bit cool in the mornings but I agree, we should do this any week in June but not past the first week of July.

You know that big black heavy suit I wear? This is the kind of weather it likes best. :D
Constantly changing climate conditions. Say that three times fast.

June sounds great, RAA is the first rally I ever stayed at a motel, I usually tent camp.
