The July time frame is the peak season out there, so we would not get any discounts and be paying top prices and fighting the biggest crowds............

Before I go any further on this original plan,
I suggest that we consider changing the dates to one of these:

*1st week June 2014
*2nd week June 2014
*1st week September 2014 (the Monday of that week is Labor Day)

September sounds good.
What about anyone else?
It gives time for those that want to do MV, Sturgis and this one.

We have our Triumph Noreast Rally the weekend after Labor Day, so I probably wouldn't be able to make it.

I have been on Highway 1, it is nice but ohhh so far. Some of us have to get back to work. You can't beat those big trees CA has.

We really enjoyed the MV event...met some great people and had a LARGE time, but I probably made my last "large" group ride in North Carolina. I think RAA should take the approach that the local host acts as a knowledge base for where to ride, etc but is NOT responsible for organizing or leading folks on any rides. Large groups of folks are difficult to keep together on a ride at best and given some of the "individualistic" tendencies in our group it could be **** near impossible. Getting the event together should be the sum total of the host's responsibilities IMHO. Make sure we organize the event in an interesting place and then let nature take it's course...just sayin...

Planned rides are great just you guys like to go so fast. I do like your approach T-Rex.
Small groups different routes different days. That way the locals will think like cripes them darn rockets are everywhere!
