Where to for RAA 9 2014

Honestly, I'd put everyone in Ouray, CO. There's camping, small town feel, and the most amazing scenery in the state. The Million Dollar Highway is right there and it just doesn't get much better. We can route down to Telluride, Lake City, Silverton, and elsewhere, we can nekkid hottub in the Orvis Hot Springs, we can even ride an old style train down to Durango if ya like (heck, send the wives down on the train 'n meet 'em in Durango and loop on back up. Haul ass down there on the twisties on stuff that'd scare 'em silly and go easy back).
It's fairly high altitude with several mountain crossings so I'd go june to early Sept, with my fave time of year (Mountain Flowers) being late July to first week in August. It's about six hours from where I live.
All this being said...there's a LOT of really stunning places to stay in CO for an event like this; I've been to Valkyrie rallies here before as well as many other types (I'm also into fourwheelin'). How many folks generally attend? What's the level of organization? (I'm new to the Rocket world)

Sounds good but we need to see where the voting ends up.

You can help by gathering info.
Maps, lodging, state parks, fuel stops (every 150 miles), restaurants (nothing fancy and not necessarily chain establishments), photo opportunities, and any historic or otherwise interesting places.

PM me your email. Even if voting changes the event location, I will be riding in Co. sometime.

At maximum, there really is no limit, IF you have the time & desire........you only live once, get it while you can.

Practically speaking, at the minimum, a couple weeks....

For example:

Early season series...

*thurs-sunday rally @ Smokies site

*mon-wed group ride thru Appalacians

*thurs-sunday rally @ WV site

Late season series....

*thurs-sun rally @ Utah or CO site

*mon-wed group ride thru AZ/Big Bend

*thurs-sun rally @ TX hill country site

(peeps could do ALL or just PART of any or all events as best fits their own schedules/locations)

(could also add a mid season series if desired......but maybe start with two for the 1st year and see how it goes??)

(another option would be to make it a three weekend linked series, one early/one late.....but that also might be too much for starters??)

(The "group ride" between events is a sort of "traveling salvo" format.......stay in new place each night along the way.)

I like it!!!

Map it buddy :D

Consider that most of us can only do 2 weeks max.

You can map more for those that can ride longer.

Keep in mind that people want to stop for pics.;)

What took you so long to bring this up ??????

Since Texas is already on the books...I'll look at a tentative Rocky Mt plan & a possible Appalachians plan...

That's what I'm talkin about! California it is! ;-)

I agree! CA has LOTS of great roads. I could see doing CA as a traveling tour format...possibly with a cross country adventure to & fro for those coming from east...

I'm thinkin about a grey cavalry uniform and a Morgan's Raiders style ride up into the UP of Michigan. Let it rock.

CA has crazy drivers!!!!! Went through there last year. Not fun.

The UP is nice.....in July!!!!
How are you going to get there with a broken throtle cable?:D
I just found my phone, lost it a few hrs ago , found it and heard your message
Glad you didn't needed me to save your life
And i gripe to my kids all the time about not answering their phone:eek:
