Seeing as I am going to visit this state for the first time I have to ask the obvious question. Why is it not pronounced the way it is spelled? I.E. R-Kansas
Paul you and Chris have both been to Kansas You just may not remeber it. Someone said we were doing 168 not sure who was leading that groop must have been a wild man.

I remember Kansas the question was about Arkansas. the 168 was more than likely the wind speed as we dodged the impending tornado

All I could find is Kansas comes from Indian for "South Wind" and Arkansas is a French interpretation of Indian for "downstream place".
Makes NO darn sense to me???

I found out that it is pronounced that way so people could ask "What did Tennessee? "
