Seeing as I am going to visit this state for the first time I have to ask the obvious question. Why is it not pronounced the way it is spelled? I.E. R-Kansas
Paul you and Chris have both been to Kansas:eek: You just may not remeber it. Someone said we were doing 168 not sure who was leading that groop must have been a wild man.:p

I remember Kansas the question was about Arkansas. the 168 was more than likely the wind speed as we dodged the impending tornado :D

All I could find is Kansas comes from Indian for "South Wind" and Arkansas is a French interpretation of Indian for "downstream place".
Makes NO darn sense to me??? :banghead:

I found out that it is pronounced that way so people could ask "What did Tennessee? "
