R3T--Fastest Production Touring Bike On Earth?

I own both an R3T and a GW. Very different bikes but i find myself taking out the R3T more than the GW.
I know that doesn't add much to the discussion, but those are 2 very fine machines.

Someone mentioned the Moto Guzzis. These bikes don't deserve to be in the same breath as any of the British or German offerings. I've got a huge number of hilarious Piaggio stories, but they all sound better after half a bottle of Grappa.
The Norge is another one of those bikes that I just had to have. I traded a perfectly good Suzuki DL1000 for it back in 2007 when they came out. I wanted to ride along with Guiseppe to the arctic circle :). I'm convinced now that Guiseppe rode to Oslo, hid out for a few weeks, and then pretended to ride out of the north at the appointed time. I doubt he ever made it up to the latitude he claimed. And any company that has to point with pride to their so-called invention of the swing arm as their great contribution to motorcycle technology has to be viewed with a jaundiced eye.
Underpowered, poorly designed, uncomfortable, expensive to maintain, etc. etc. etc. This is one of the few brands that I would openly be negative about if someone asked me for a recommendation. I would not trade a Rocket III Touring for half the stock in Piaggio.

I never really thought the R3t was going to lose the discussion on the R3owners forum! My standard that fits like a cruiser but is built for touring is being in the moment, on the road happy and content between surges of adrenalin never wanting to stop.

If you call the R3T a bagger, it will most likely lose to the Honda F6B. A baggerized Gold Wing. The Rocket engine is under utilized (power wise) and so is the Gold Wing engine. I'm not a Wing rider, so I can't say what power goodies are there for it. I am certain, though, if you were willing to pay you could turbo or super charge it.

Fastest Tourer would have to be the one that gets from A - B the quickest with B being at least, say, 1000 miles away from A.

Have to disagree, Richard.
1000 miles is ALL rider stamina and not the motor.
To be a "fastest" one has to win the quarter mile and/or top speed IMHO.

Sorry - did not realize this was an old thread when I posted.
Why would anyone with a touring motor give a *** about "fastest"???
If'n ya want "fastest" get a different style motor!

THE truth is you can easily retune the R3T for a 170 HP or we can give you 270 HP modded and you cant do a **** thing to the Hondas so its a NO CONTEST the BIG T WINS

That last sentence of yours is kinda what I meant.....

Dennis I'm a lucky fella cause I do have both ( Rocket 111 + 1800 Wing )and for distance without saddle rash  it has to be the wing ..... for grunt and just the shear pleasure of being at one with the bike it has to be the Rocket ..... its still drives me crazy when I look in the garage .... which do I ride today
