Hi J, I've only just started building these Rocket Exhaust systems, tho' I have been developing them for over a year. (My back ground is Research and Development Engineering and Tool Making)
I've got the "Stock header" replacement done and the 3 into 1. My next project is a 3 into 2 system for both the Classic and the Touring, including the Roadster of coarse.
I have a friend close by who has a Touring so will use that to set the system up on, this would have ample clearance for the bags and would be a complete "bolt on kit" as all my systems are.

See www.vikingexhaust.com for my 70's British bike systems, this will also show the quality of my work.

The header pipes are 1 5/8" O.D. Tune and price yet to be determined but I would estimate around the NZ$2800.00, US$1887.00 mark, plus shipping (again yet to be determined)

I've started this project but have put it on the back burner as I am absolutely flat out at present with both my Classic (70's) systems and these new Rocket systems.
I will be picking this up again in the new year.

And Dougl, the internal heat barrier coating works very well retaining the heat, heat shields are on the agenda for next year as well as people are asking for them. Having said that, feed back that I have received has said absolutely no problem with heat on their legs.

Cheers,

Paul.

Paul,

Thanks for the info. Under $2,000 doesn't scare me way if it looks and performs. If I am going to spend that kind of money I would like a full system with 150+ in horsepower on the R3T.

The pipe I like now is the CES. I like the fat pipe look. Honestly, my opinion only...your looks a little small in diameter. I would rather go fatter with a heat shield than smaller and tucked in without. Visual thing for me...plus it would seem like the more capacity of the pipe the better..right? Could you build with 2.25 or bigger pipe?

A bigger diameter pipe is not necessarily better J, you lose velocity which can make it go flat, this on a stock Engine, high HP Engines, different story.
This is why I'm looking at making heat shields, to give that "bigger" look.
A 2¼" O.D. header pipe would be waaaay to big. When I said 1 5/8" that was for the header pipes, bare in mind the stock pipes are 1½" O.D. and have something like a 2½" dia. heat shield.

I think the CES is 2.25. You may want to look at some of the posts from the guys that are going or have gone with CES. Take a look at the CES pipe, good looking.

From my CES invioce:
$1,227 Polished silver headers
$591 Poliched stainless steel muffler
$227.30 Packaging and freight
TOTAL $2,045.30 ALL in AUD!
Today that would be $1,500 USD
I think I paid about $1800 USD when I got mine.

Bull,

What size pipe is used on both the header and the tail pipe section on the CES?

j

Paul you are a very patient man,:whitstling::whitstling:

I guess patience is good...but patience with knowledge is even better! Bull has been working with CES for some time and is currently running their full system on his R3R. He tells me the pipe is 2 1/4" at both ends.

"Living Legend" I didn't appreciate your condescending remark about patience. I am new to the bike and I was just trying to collect good intel in order to make a good buying decision.

I think that if a guy is trying to sell his product he needs to be willing to educate folks. In this case he didn't know his competitor's product and made me feel stupid for asking. Not a great sales strategy.
