R3T derestricting

Did a quick run over the weekend. Some city, some mountain passes. a little bit of super slab, basically, just normal everyday type of riding, well, except for the moutain pass. I got right at 33mpg, essentially the same as stock. Only dofference is more power now.

I am glad to hear that a few have found this calibration to work well for them. WATCH THROTTLE CONTROL IN FIRST GEAR. The front tire wants to come up if you get to happy with the right grip at low rpm. [Anti-gravity mode]

The sweet spot for good fuel economy is 65-70mph. Above this, engine speeds -vs- port vacuum becomes and issue. If we had an electronic throttle we could do even better.

There's a company called RAMAIR in the UK that has taken an interest in building an R3 solution. Colin is going to see the prototype on Monday. They will be moulding in a radius on the base - Foam filter. They have a plenum to get the size and shape right. Might be worth you while speaking with them do you think?

They're even taking about a different outer cover (bear-claw replacement) with air inlets.

I did indeed visit Ramair on Monday and work on the one piece filter is progressing although running a bit late. I was shown the computer model and they have followed the basic shape I gave them. Latest is that the tooling will be ready early next week and hopefully a prototype will follow a few days after.

Just to make it clear this initial project is to make an alternative to the triple K&N's/UniFilters, it will fit under an unmodified bear-claw and will have a base-plate with integral radius topped bell-mouths and spigots that clamp straight to the throttle bodies. The AIT sensor also has a integral mounting thus placing it where it should be - in the intake air stream. The filter foam is bonded to the base-plate making a one piece assembly that is easy to service.

This filter isn't intended to be a maximum hp producer, but none the less will flow much better than the triple filters. The idea is to supply a complete kit making it a simple 'plug and play' conversion. It will include an easy to install crankcase breather filter, an IAT sensor extension lead, a clip to fix the MAP sensor, instructions, plus nuts and washers to complete the instal. Pricing should also be competitive.

The replacement bear-claw mentioned is also not intended to be a power producer. The idea was not to act as an air ram but just allow cooler air to the filter, and look good of course.

Cooler air will for about 90% of us be more than enough. I watch and wait.

RAMAIR's filter foam flows air well. Just replaced the filter on my 4WD Turbo Diesel, with their foam. Breathes notably better especially before the turbo kicks in.

Will this design be able to fit the tighter confines of the Touring? You probably posted this before, but just what does it look like?

Very unlikely to fit the Touring unless made specifically for it, Marcelo's doesn't. Totally different tank shape.

no connection to ECU

Well that was huge disappointment - used the OBD II cable in the forum link from Amazon - 16 pin and the computer can't detect the bike, well I gues it stays stock now lol !!

Are you sure you got the correct drivers for the cable?
