I would like an exhaust upgrade with a nice sound similiar ro the British Customs I had on my Bonneville America. Awesome sound but not too loud. I prefer listening to my tunes on a long trip and not having my ears numb from the drone of the exhaust.

Guess I need to ride a couple Tourings with different setups.

My D and D's are in. Hopefully, I'll get them installed next week along with my K&N and remap. I'm all aquiver with anticipation.

Do you have them up and running? How do you like the D&D? I'm looking to order them as well. Sound good?

While I appreciate the insanity and total awesomeness of the Carpenter Racing Exhaust, I've chosen to purchase a set of D&D slip ons. I figure if they don't put out the volume I'm looking for I can pull the baffles. Anyone have a map suggestion for D&D exhaust with no baffles and K&N under seat on a 2014 R3T?

Thanks!

I have the same pipes, I hated the sound with the baffles out!!! With the baffles out it ran like poop and sounded like a diesel truck that the exhaust system fell off, hated it!!!!!! IMO

Has anyone tried the carpenter exhaust on the R3T? Looking at their website they only mention the roadster.

Carpenter exhaust fits on Roadster and Touring... I called them last week with this same question. They were very helpful.

Good to know! Thanks for the info.
now I just have to decide If I will be ok with the asymetry of the 3 to 1 look.

If anyone has pictures of a carpenter exhaust on an r3touring it would be great to see.

D&D slip-ons is not the same as a custom exhaust. From what I've read, the problem with airflow is before you ever reach the slip-on part. D&D's make the bike sound angrier, basically, and that's mostly it. For real tuning purposes and pushing the bike to higher power everything including the headers have to to change.

No one can dispute that. I have heard (but not confirmed) that, depending on the country of origin, the cat box may be empty on some Touring models. If so, this means the exhaust is free flowing from the headers to the silencers (pipes). While a "free flowing" exhaust is certainly not the same as a custom solution, it does offer an improvement from cat restricted / baffled exhaust when tuned correctly.

The issue is tuning it correctly. This may mean dyno runs. I wish there were some more variables with the maps supplied on the TuneECU site (i.e. D&D slip on with K&N under seat... with or without baffles) but the menu is a little limited. I've been spoiled by having a large number of Power Commander maps available for my last bike (Honda VTX 1800).

I'm not sure a 12 minute tune with substantial changes to intake and exhaust pressures would result in a smooth running motor with no exhaust popping. Anyone have map suggestions / experience with 12 minute tune and D&D w/o baffles?

The " cat box " is empty on the Touring. The cats are in the mufflers. TORS, D&D and others have no cats
