Queensland does get a bit chilly

I was on a construction site at Leslie Dam near Warwick 31 years ago when it snowed. I remember wondering why the sleet looked strange. It was snow, it was also the first time I had ever seen snow, so I didn't recognise it initially. Back then it was reported as the first snow in 50 years. I remember it clearly because I rode my bike 20km to work that. Nothing compared to what our international R3 owners cope with, but bl##dy cold enough for this Queenslander.
I was driving a forklift at the sawmill in Urbenville 31 years ago when it was gusty westerly it was sleet, when the wind would drop it was snow floating down but not enough to cover the ground. At knock off time some got their wives and kids and drove to Stanthorpe or Tenterfield to make snowmen. I went home and got the fire going. Snowed in Woodenbong that day. Probably a light dusting down there today. Will ring Dad later on to see how the weather was.

Wallangarra this morning, my sister said there was snow at Queen Mary Falls this morning. That's only about 100 Klm from Brisbane. No wonder it's cool out in the wind

usually lucky if we get two or three in a winter we are only just past half way into winter and we have had 5 or 6 already
This probably explains why we're suffering one of the hottest summers I can remember. Also started a good month earlier than normal.

Last time i spent winter in Kabul we had 3 foot of snow in one 24 hour period , had to keep throwing buckets of hot water on my reverse cycle aircon , i hate snow.

Not keen on it myself after living with it in the UK. Mind back then I saw life through different glasses I suppose.
You guys take it easy in the roads up there, don't want any nasties to happen to anyone. Enjoy a cold weekend.

1 degree C is cold? Wimps. :)

But yeah, this is what more thermal energy in the atmosphere and seas does, creates extremes. California is roasting for the 4th straight year, but the eastern parts of the US gets tons of snow in the winter, and Scandinavia is chilly and rainy, the summer thus far has been crappy. As temps keep rising we'll continue to see more and more extreme weather.

I don't mind the cold but forget snow @cr0ft Just don't enjoy it. I shall tuck myself into bed with a good book and a nice glass of
image.jpg or image.jpg
And be toastie warm for the rest of the night. :p

Had 12 months in the UK as a 10 year old .. coming from western NSW the thought of snow was exciting. Excitement lasted about 3 days .. couldn't wait for it to f#ck off , actually couldn't wait to get back to Australia.

OMG. 1 degree C requires a picture? Pussies. I got snow chains for the back of my rocket. Use them regular for getting down from the 13,000 foot high peaks in this part of South Wales.
