Pulled the trigger on R3 Storm GT yesterday...Not too impressed with dealer about options to add.

Welcome to the forum. The accessories you have ordered are nice but the bike and motor itself is sufficient to give you that buzz you are looking for.

I have the connectivity module. I got €2.5k free accessories with mine. It was a toss up between the quick shifter or Bluetooth and while I know I'm a lazy barsteward flicking my toe up and down isn't a big deal even for me 😂........in hindsight I think I would go with a GPS mount and an android carplay unit front mounted over the clocks. This setup would give me my music and a full GPS map screen at a lot less than the module....... panniers are great and I went with the heated grips also (never had them on a bike before). I love the way they fit - no ugly wires and they work well.

I thought the connectivity module would have much more going for it. I'm kinda in the camp of preferring to use a dedicated GPS Unit (Tomtom400) that I could swap between my bikes rather than using my phone.

When I read about the module and GPS I foolishly thought I'd somehow have maps on the cluster. While I like the way you can control your music through it and a GoPro (not my thing) I could have that on a stand alone sat nav or android carplay unit. If I where to start again I would go the android unit a buy more brackets so I could swap from bike to bike. I don't feel too bad about it because effectively it was free because the quick shifter was never something I wanted.

Gidday from a new owner in NZ. Still to take delivery of it and looking at what items I want to put on the bike.

I wanted something that was going to give me abuzz every time I go fro a ride and also has the comfort factor for regular two up riding.

I think this will tick that box.

At this stage just the small rack on the rear has been selected.

it wasn't until I got home and decided that I should take the plunge and put the side panniers on to.

I wanted to check the hardware visual appearance when the bags aren't on.

Finally found a a couple of photos and the fitting hardware looks okay.

I'm not sure if the bags are any good hard to tell from a photo if the are well made or not. They are expensive for what they are.

I can't seem to find any decent alternatives with appropriate mounting hardware.

Givi has nothing on their web site.

Next item I discovered and no mention at all from the dealer on any of these I might add. There is a module for the connectivity also available . My immediate thought is why isn't it fitted as standard? Then of course I know the reason. Is it actually worth doing or is it a gimmick.

Is there something that I really should consider adding before I pick it up?

Looking forward to getting some rides in and hopefully meeting some new fellow riders.

Anyway , that's my kick off post and please to be here.

Stu
It’s been a while since I’ve been on this forum. I’m in Auckland NZ and about to pick up my new Storm (next week) after 17 years with my 07 Rocket. The 07 has seen tours all over NZ from the North Cape to Bluff and the full coast line without issue! Very reliable. I’ve opted for the panniers and rear rack. Quick shifter is a freebie!

Gidday, I'm a bit further north than Auckland. I have the same options on my bike. I've had a couple of rides and It's growing on me. It's certainly has the "get down and boogie" and that's still running in. You're just timing it right for the good weather over the next few months. May see you out there some time...

Gidday Stu...Christchurch here....I'm on my 3rd Gt..yeah, i know...its a long story...and no i didnt write them off!
I see the dealers are offering a quick shifter free on these new Storms...should have come standard i thought but?
I had a 1200 Tiger with the quick shifter and it really gets the bike down the road quickly...down shifting is great too so in my opinion they are an awesome addition.
One thing i will say is get your suspension sorted as the preload is set down at the very bottom setting from factory...its because they dont know the purchasers weight and its up to you to adjust it accordingly...There is a video on youtube with two aussie guys doing the adjustments...follow this and youll have a better ride for sure.
The rear preload will take a few thousand km's to settle so dont be too hasty and start abusing the quality..it does settle.
I find the GT flyscreen good for me...it does deflect wind over your lid..stones too!
You can adjust the pegs also...check the manual.
Make sure when checking the oil the bike is on the side stand!...run the motor for a minute to a minute and a half, turn the motor off and leave it for 3 mins then check...the level should be somewhere in the serated area...preferably near the top in my opinion.
Go into your menu and make sure the time and date is correct and you can enter your name as well if the dealer hasnt already done this.
The Panniers are ok...i put all my gear in a plastic bag as well.
I didnt see if you had bought a GT or an R?...maybe i missed that...you will love this bike m8...

Cheers Tal, nice part of the country you're in. Got the best touring roads in the country imho. es , quickshifter part of the deal, thanks for sharing info on the suspension. I have watched the video, but waiting until I've run a few more k's before adjusting. . I'll set it eventually for two up riding and bags loaded too. I'm guessing total payload in the vicinity of 180-200kgs. I think most manufacturers work on the average rider weight of 75kg. I'm about 105-110kg wearing all my riding gear.
I've got the GT version, as I ride with a pillion a lot. Very cool how the pillion pegs are hidden, it's quite confusing for people looking at the bike.
I'm reasonable ok with the tech stuff as I have an 18 XCA 800. Menus are very similar. Looking forward to many rides...

Welcome from Eric in the Pacific Northwest. One mod to consider is the powerbronze hand guards. Not from Triumph but a quality aftermarket from the UK. I found them to be useful is keeping hard rocks and bug strikes from my hands. I was able, using their kit too until them upside down which hides the mounting bar and elevates them up higher for shielding.

Looks like they also help keep the hands warm??? How do they mount?

I opted to keep the existing bar ends, (they come with their own) and used an alternative mounting bracket from Amazon (see image) as I didn't like the looks of the bracket going over the top of each reservoir.

They do well for deflecting wind around the hands...sonsome warmth in cooler weather, but when it's cold, I just throw on my hippo hands and enjoy the heated grips!

The thing I like the most is not getting pelted with rocks and bugs in the hands. Hand a few good thwacks over the years and one broken finger from a passing logging truck pitching a rock.
