G'day fellas, looking to find myself a project bike. Would really like a pre-1970 Triumph to build/restore. Prepared to consider anything. Running bike . Basket Case or even just a rolling chassis. Prepared to purchase overseas and import if the machine warrants it. So has anyone got an old Triumph tucked away in their shed or know anyone that has that may be willing to sell ? Thanks in advance.

If I had one I'd be keepin it . Already let a couple slip through my fingers over the years when I was young and didn't value them. Good luck with your search.

TC,
I know a guy who was a big time mechanic for Triumph and in the big time racing arena throughout the 70's. He has quite a stable; but, I think most are beautiful restored track bikes. If you could give me more details of what you want I can go give him a yank and see what he knows. He has many contacts and if anyone might know of a project machine in the States, he would.

Would love an un-restored 650 swing-arm preunit. Really any unrestored 650 twin up until 1970 would be good. Like i said i'd consider any model really. Just like to have a bike to work on ( good reason to hit all the Swap Meets ) .. go to most of the Swaps but it's not the same if you're not on the hunt.

That would be great mate , thanks.

Sent you a PM.

I like this one. It's a little smaller than what you're looking for but would be a Cool scooter to restore and teach the grandkids to ride.

Noticed over the years a lot of the low mileage early Triumphs that have found their way to Australia have come from Canada. Any of the Canadian Owners know where would be a good place to look .. websites .. Dealers or bikeshops in Canada . Thanks.

PS .. Already check on the US Cycle Trader website .. Baxter Cycles and Bobs Classic Bikes. Just after leads on anywhere else i could keep an eye on ;)

mate I've been looking for a long time for the same thing. Been to look at about 3 but as keen as I am I am not prepared to get ripped by a dickhead who knows he has a saleable item to an enthusiast. I'll pay any reasonable price but one example was $7000 for (as far as I can remember) a 1962 Thunderbird with about a third of it missing and there was the same bike on Bikepoint in running order for the same price.
