Problem with the Touring model

I run 38/42 PSI in Touring. It is very sensitive to rear tire pressure. I would raise pressure in front tire and try different settings in rear until it feels good.
Also if those are still original tires change them no matter how much thread they have, at 8 or 9 years old they're dead

Yes, hard tires would definitely do that.

Lassie79 do you have more than 1 tire pressure gauge ? I would check your gauge against several others to confirm your gauge is accurate.

Yes, new Avon Whitewalls. Try that and if it doesn't make you happy something has to be wrong with the motorcycle. Mine handles great.

When I changed from worn Metzelers to new Avons it was like night and day.

If you can't find them locally, M&P should ship them to you cheaply. I've bought two sets from them.

(If you don't want wide whitewall tires - though why not? - they also come in black.)

While I have a 2013 roadster, not touring, It had factory Metzlers with about 3,200 miles on the bike. I noticed the same premature washout when pushing in the turns. Kind of unsettling, to say the least. I changed to Avon front and Excedra Max rear and was utterly shocked at the difference! I really couldn't believe it. I kept jumping on it and heading for the twisties in the foothills because I felt like I had a brand new motorcycle. I just can't imagine the bureaucratic $hit that allows Triumph to put Metzlers on a rocket? I would think they'd have changed by now just from a liability standpoint.

Okay. I believe you. I'm notified that everybody tells the same story. I'm going to order the Avon Cobras next when these metzeler are little more worn out. I just bought them and they costed almost 500 euros, including assembling. Thanks for your post. I appreciate it.

Check the date code on the tire to see how old they are! You may have got some old stock? 5 years from date of manufacturing is what they are rated for!

The WWW Cobras are in fact fitted by Triumph to the Thunderbird LT model. I even believe the radial wide whitewalls were developed especially for them, and I also believe they are the first OE fitted radial whitewalls ever. I guess it's lucky the Thunderbird LT has the exact same wheel dimensions as the Touring.
