hey guys, not sure if this is the right category to post this in, but here goes....

im trying to put together a deal for a rocket 3 roadster and when i asked my dealer where he got the number he came up with, he stated the MSRP on the roadster is now 14999. he said triumph raised the price. i said really, cause according to the website its still 13999 and as if that isnt expensive enough in our tough economy, 14999 is even worse.
he verified that indeed the website says 13999 but per triumph the incoming bikes will be 14999.
he checked wih the rep and he says the rep verified this but but its unclear what the price is on the matte black one he has incoming. sounds confusing to me.
he has a phantom black on the floor and said if the price raises he can just switch the fenders and tank etc on the bikes and sell me that one which came in at the cheaper price. (its a 2011) hes going to see what he can do at the rep meeting first.
i told him i wasnt very happy abt all this and he admitted its all making him look bad but he assures me hes just following what triumph told him, and if the matte blk comes in more expensive, he cant do much abt it except just swap the parts out.
the deal we had struck was 5 bills under list plus prep, title and tax.

anyone hear anything about a price increase?
thanks

That's a new one to me. We all know how bad you want one, but pretend it never happened and stick to your guns ... this is a bad economy.
(didn't they use that one on you when it was time for a raise?)

Tell them they are lucky to even have your business and that you can go get the same bike sitting on another dealer showroom with a rented trailer for less than that grand.

When I bought my R3T in 08 I offered $1000.00 less than the sticker price and he accepted without batting an eye, I would think that in todays economy and the fact that Rockets arent exactly flying out the doors (Pun intended) he would jump at the chance to make a sale.

Just my two cents

yeah, but this early in the year im sure they will sell their allotment of r3s as they only got 6 last year and sold them all.
from what he tells me, most folks buy the phantom blacks.
honestly i dont know what these bikes usually sell for, i figured 5-6 hundred under list was fair.

Do some homework. You can buy that bike anywhere in the states chaeper and have it shipped for $500. So you will save at least the extra $500 he wants. Look around, Ebay, Google the bike and dealerships will pop up selling them. You can usually find good internet deals and have them ship it via a reputable motorcycle shipping company.

Good luck!

Little birdie tells me that there is a dealer in Dover that doesn't sell alot of R3's ... In fact last time I was there they had a flat black sitting on the floor. Who knows what they have in the back still in the crate.
I bought my '08 there while it was still in the box.
(L&D Suzuki/Triumph)

true, but to just break even, i have to find a dealer that will sell for 1k under list.
(as my guy will sell for 500 under) so to make it worth my while, id want to find one for about 1500 under list. possible? i only want a 2011, maaaaybe a 2010.
for a few bucks i like to have a good repore with the dealer if i ever need warranty work.
i dont know, maybe someone will sell for 1500 under list but i dont see it early in the year on a low production bike.

$15,000 for a Roadster .. lucky you !!! We're about dollar for dollar with you mob at present and a Roadster over here will cost ya another $10,000 on top of what your dealer wants...True!!!
