So no, the Pretech have a soft initial response, which I prefer. When I'm serious about braking, it gets serious, and feels much more confident somehow.

@1olbull yes - a bit curious your question - my understanding is all the HEL lines are stainless steel -- unless you were asking something else ?

If you look on the HEL site - - on the right side you see the color palette. The lines and banjo bolts can be color-specified independently. I ordered the "Transparent Red" for the lines, and polished stainless silver for the bolts, and it's a good fit, at least in this Rocket captain's eye.

@1olbull Not true my friend -- looks can be deceiving.

Why they don't update their site I don't know, but I assure you their lines will work with your bike. Just call that number on their site -- that is real -- and Jim or (forget the other guy's name) will answer the phone and is the person who knows their business -- not some lowly sales person -- and you'll be set. If there is any question, they'll work with you and/or your shop to get it right.

UPDATE: Perhaps the PreTech took some miles to break in, and at my pace, it took me some months to start riding and put 500 miles on the new brakes.

I NOW report these brakes are a big improvement over the stock brakes.

The only power is coming from my right hand -- when I'm willing to use it -- the beast slows down in a hurry, and one really needs to pay attention (and practice) physics taught in Basic Rider's Course about braking hard in a straight line.

These are just the right combination of 90% braking from my hands, and if I go beyond that, I trade off with the ABS.

Hey Joesmoe, like you, I've recently ordered the pretect and HEL brake lines but according The my Mechanic, I'll need a different type of banjo and probably a slightly longer set of lines. Did you have to custom the HEL lines as well for the pretects?

Argggg... I need the long answer! Wasted some money on the oem replacement HEL brake lines. Wondering if there's a way for me to get them modified.

What are the dimensions you used? Straight banjos instead?

The Pretech calipers have a different orientation for the brake line connection. I just saw where the stock lines were short, measured those and added some excess. Also with mine, I replace the lines all the way up the handlebar.
