potential R3 owner

Welcome to the site from Florida. It seems at this point in time the current Rockets have been de-bugged. Like others have said the Torque is awesome. I have an older model and have the restrictions removed. 3rd gear is pretty good in traffic from 40 mph to 105mph I don't have to shift. It is good having all that torque. I am about 6'5" and weigh around 270 lbs. When I ride 2-up with my wife the bike does seem to notice at all. I have no trouble passing or climbing hills. The torque is a difference maker

Gday from Aus Wildchild,

One serious problem with owning a Rocket that "we aficionados" forget to mention and warn people about. Almost every purchaser of a Rocket ends up with a medical condition known as 'Dual atypical hemifacial syndrome'. This is not as big a medical problem for us as it is for the poor innocent people that suffer from the standard neuromuscular Hemifacial Spasm.

Ironically where normal people have no cure we have discovered a cure for our problem. All we have to do is get off our bike and rest for 30-45 minutes and we are all back to normal.

I have cut and pasted a description of this real medical condition below for your understanding.

Hemifacil- Hemifacial spasm (HFS) is a rare neuromuscular disease characterized by irregular, involuntary muscle contractions (spasms) on one side (hemi-) of the face (-facial).[1] The facial muscles are controlled by the facial nerve (seventh cranial nerve), which originates at the brainstem and exits the skull below the ear where it separates into five main branches.

Ah, what you say???

First welcome to the site, lots of good info and folks here.
So here goes,
If you don't like high horsepower and torque then the R3R is not for you.
If you like riding what everyone else rides then R3R is not for you.
If you don't like big meaty tires then the R3R is not for you.
If you don't like coming out of a store and seeing people standing around your bike then the R3R is not for you.
If you think image is more important then performance then the R3R is not for you.
Finally if you don't like black then the R3R is not for you. or you can get an older one or just paint it.

I'll leave you with what my salesman told me, " If you ride it, you will buy it". Was that simple. enjoy...:D

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome everyone. The more I read the more I want a rocket. I was looking through the photo albums, there are some unbelievable bikes in here. Will let you know when I get it. Looking and liking that red stripe! :D

Welcome from Germany (by way of Mississippi)!
I think it's all been said...DON'T test ride one unless you're planning on buying one that day! Otherwise you'll never forgive yourself for the tease you put yourself through!!
I have an 07 classic...maintenance to date 1) break-in 2) Oil change 1 3) Oil change 2...it's annoying having to take a day off of riding for those oil changes!!

It's not all positive.

The bike LOVES to go through tires, but hates speed limits and worst of all if your not careful with the throttle, it will try to rip your arms off their sockets.

...there is a reason I nicknamed mine "The Sledgehammer".

The beast demands respect.
