POTENTIAL OWNER

One year old and 18,000 miles on the Rocket X with no problems at all. The only draw back was back tires. After replacing the stock tires with Avon's, the back Avon wore out. So now we are running a car tire. The headlights sucked so now we have daymakers and like them a lot. I guess my bike was assembled on a wednesday vice a monday or friday. Watch out for dealerships. Took the bike in for a new bike tire and they totally screwed it up. Did the work myself this time and now with a thousand or so miles no problems. Gearing up for the 20,000 mile tune up which covers a lot off stuff but anybody with basic mechanic skills could handle it. No issues or problems. You want a bike that is a lot of fun and dependable buy it. :):):):)

Hello Xb12X, buy the Rocket and keep the Ulysses. I have a few electrical issues but they come from not cleaning the bike after long rain rides, so I am a factor.
I say keep your Buell as well as I know how much fun they can be in the twisties. And having two bikes is always better than just one...

I'd definitely run two bikes.

Why should you have electrical problems from not cleaning the bike, Boog? It's electrical problems I'm concerned about. There's no excuse for them. I've never had an electrical problem with the Buell even, and I rarely used to clean it.

Triumphs no longer have Lucas electronics so it's not an issue anymore. Some people have had problems with the ignition switch. I've had a 2005 and 2007. No electrical or transmission problems.

What electrics do they have? Japanese?
Hopefully, but they seem to be reliable. Triumph's design rather than the quality of the components is just as likely to cause problems. Lucas on the other hand was a British company established in the 1860's.

I wondered about Lucas after I posted the above. Sounds like Triumph's electrics have the same problem as Buell's; the design. It doesn't fill me with confidence.

I have two Rockets the first one I bought brand new in 2005 now over 70000miles later no trouble at all in fact I doubt anyone on this site has a more reliable Rocket than my 2005, buy the bike and ride it if it breaks down we will help you get it going as we have done with many a rider.

Yeah ? Well my battery lasted 11 years ! (well almost)
