Polishing Wheels

Was being sarcastic. X came with coated wheels (Black) Blue magic works well on aluminum. Is some messy stuff to use but it works.

A buddy of mine rides a 2005 Rocket 3. His rims looked terrible. The outer coating was a mess. He took them to a shop and had both rims dipped. The end result looks like carbon graphite. Seems to be holding up. He's got 15,000 miles on them. I had my 08 Touring model chromed. I've been pleased with the result. Simple soap and water clean up. I've never put a polish on them. 20,000 miles and no issues.

Autosol and wire wool been doing it for years !

A wire wheel"Sounds harsh to me
The wheels are lacquered. Before you start polishing, you'll need to get the grubby lacquer off. And you'll need more than wire-wool to shift it.

Chris,
I didn't on my R3R 2012.
No lacquer that I could discern.

I heard from the dealer that Triumph stopped clear coating the rims. My 2008 had it. So sometime between 08 and 12 they stopped.

When I was at the dealership down south 6 weeks ago one the the machaincs was polishing a set of rims for rocket touring.

I said is someone paying you to polish them or are you putting on the show room floor for sale.?

Said that the owner want them to be polished while it was in the shop for a service must have cost a few hundred dollars for that to be done.:banghead::banghead:

Use this and you will thank me for saving you a bunch of work. I have aluminum wheels on my 67 Barracuda and this cuts the polish down to half. I use it also on bike.

DIAMOND WHITE

Just as Scottinexile says "noting like a little elbow grease", a rag and metal cleaner. Have still to try the steel wool method on the heavy stuff. I use S100 and a soft brush on the metal parts and it helps keeping the stuff presentable. Expensive but worth it like F-11 for the painted surfaces.
