Polishing Wheels

I have them finished and back on the bike. Whew what a job. It took about three hours per wheel. The rear was so bad that I started with 800 grit paper but it was not removing the defects that I was trying to remove. I had to go back to 220 paper. Then 320, 400, 800, 1200 and finishing with a polishing compound and White Diamond polish on a rotary sponge on a drill. Looks good now.

That is really impressive result! I think you have more patients than I do (pun intended)

Polishing the RIII wheels is major PITA. I wish I went different route (chrome or some other plating), but you know - decisions. Anyway, this is the best we could get. The aluminium casting material on these wheels is not the best for this type of surface finish. This result required over one hundred hours of the machine + manual finishing.

Result: it is polished surface but not perfectly mirror like esffect.. not like chromed wheels on my Rune, but way better than the stock RIII alu/silver/black paint Will post pictures when I manage to put them on the bike

Now that does look like a mission ? mine are polished but I like the contrast with the OEM black so much easier !

Mine came black. not paint but very durable. White stripe is a bonus.

WOW! Nicely done. I actually just did mine a couple weeks ago but NOWHERE near as nice as yours. Mine is an annual event...
