Please help......must....resist....want....Rocket...now.

Sell your current bike and buy the Rocket. While the Rocket may be around in a year or two, you on the other hand may not. Live life with no regrets. I feel like getting drunk now.

Think very carefully about what Pig has written Crazyman. I'm going to a funeral today. He never did buy that boat he really wanted to go fishing coz he "wasn't sure", even though he'd been ummmming and ahhhing for 3 years, and sighing whenever he saw a runabout. He wasn't even 60. We're not in a rehearsal.

That is true.. but if you're in over your head, or treading water.. You don't want the bank taking your beloved bike from you in the next couple of years, or be having to sell it to get out from under the payments.. Until it's paid off, you're just borrowing the bike from the bank. You want to be in a position where you know you can pay it off, and it will be yours.. :)

Sounds like he's in a position to afford it though. If so, just sell or trade in the other bike and get on the R3T and cruise! Not another ride like it! I can't wait until tomorrow! It's supposed to be up to 80 degrees and sunny! I'll be riding my RIII!!!

Okay, I have had most of the day to mull it over. With the economy in the ****ter, my work and the budget cuts, divorce, paying for a house I don't live in, debts that I have, makes buying a new bike now an unwise move. I'll wait until next year at the earliest. Just have to suck it up and work work work.

I like Banjo Bart's philosophy on buying a bike...

I buy them on time, on payments. Preferrably at the lowest APR possible with no money down..... If they break and it's something major and it's not under warranty, I just call the finance company and tell them to come and get. I'm out nothing. If it lasts until it's paid for that's cool. If not, that's cool too.

That's the way to do it.:D

he's got 6 or 7 bikes now......

OK, here's my serious answer. Bikes are toys to me. I pay cash for toys. I can't imagine financing a toy. Seems like that would take all the fun out of it. If you have to finance a toy, you should probably look at taking up a cheaper hobby. My .02 worth.

I hear a lot of advice about only paying cash for things. I can see that as a sensible plan, although it's not really practical. For those of us working stiffs that don't make large salaries, it is quite difficult to save up thousands of dollars for a car, bike, computer, furniture, clothes, and on and on.

The theory sounds great. But reality sets in when you don't make a lot of money to begin with. I make a modest income. If I were to follow that conservative financial plan, I would spend way too many years waiting to have a decent car (I'd have to buy an old beater and hope it lasts), nice furniture (thrift stores), a bike (no bike) and some other things.

To me it seems that with that reasoning, only affluent people should be able to buy motorcycles (or any other non essential items). I read a lot of posts here and on other forums about how people have all this money to drop on a new toy (bikes and other stuff). I don't get it. Am I supposed to give up all the stuff in my life that I enjoy and just be a worker ? Most everyone I know works hard, pays their bills, and tries to get a little happiness by having a bike (or something else). I think that's a big problem in this country these days. Everyone wants the lifestyle, but has to finance it. I don't see too many folks that do it different.

Sorry for the ramble.
