I'm in trouble. I desperately want the R3T. I did qualify for the 3.9 financing offer, but backed out of buying at the last moment. I have a serious case of MAS (Motorcycle Acquisition Syndrome).

I have a bike now that's not paid off. I don't 'love' my bike. I 'love' that R3T. It suits me....unique, powerful, dead sexy.

Finances are always a pain. I have a good income (and expenses to match). Should I hold off a year or two or three ? Should I pay down some of my debt before buying my dream ?
Should I go for it anyway and live in debt hell ?

Please help.

The economy the way it is today, I would recommend waiting until you can pay cash. Mine is my primary source of transportation. My wife has a truck and I had a suzuki. The bike was paid off and I don't want anymore payments. We have a Smart Car on order and the only way I can justify buying it is if the cost of gasoline goes back up. The difference in mileage and the cost of gasoline vs. diesel offsets the payment and insurance. So we can get the car with no more "out of pocket" expense. If you can get this kind of justification, then I would say "go for it". Otherwise, I would have to recommend getting rid of your debt first. Use your desire for the bike as incentive to get out of debt.
Just my 2 pennies!

+10 on that.

Your 'other' problem is that you never fall in love with a machine. You can't have sex with it, you can't sleep with it and it don't 'love' you. It's a cold, unfeeling conglomeration of parts that make up a 2 wheeled vehicle. You can personalize it and I recommend that. It makes it 'yours'.

However, it should never become a love object.

Get rid of your other machine and then buy one. They will be there waiting. Triumph makes them everyday.......

+1 on what azbbqer said... :) The Triumph and the Rocket III will be still be around.. AND, by the way, you may just end up finding a slightly used one down the road for $1,000s less!

Sell your current bike and buy the Rocket. While the Rocket may be around in a year or two, you on the other hand may not. Live life with no regrets. I feel like getting drunk now.

Back and forth between passion and sensibility. Doesn't help me a bit.

I know what I 'should' do. Very different from what I 'want' to do.

Ah well, another day of dilema.

Ask yourself, why do others have a R3T and you don't. Why should THEY have one and not you? You deserve a R3T.

You have to put up with just as many miserable muts making your life a living hell as anyone else, right? Why should you settle for anything less than the bike of your dreams? Believe me, if you treat yourself (because you deserve it) to a R3T today, you'll be thanking yourself for years to come.

You'll be able to walk outside, take one look at all the miserable mopes around you, and know, deep down in the depths of your soul, that you are no longer among them. You are no longer relegated to some bottom feeding catfish settling for less.

You, a man deserving of the upmost stature in the community, will now be able to look those other mopes square in the eye and say, yes, I have a R3T and snicker under your breath knowing they're green with envy.

Go ahead, buy yourself a R3T today. You deserve it!

Are you a used car saleman?... lol

I think he's going to end up with an R3T soon.. He can't resist the temptation.. :)
