OTHER APPEALING BIKES

Just thought Tripps since you don't mind chain, look at the Versys LT 1000. All good for me except chain. Even excellent Passenger comfort, much tech stuff.
Seat height too tall, if I remember correctly

Any bike that does not have music, windshield, cruise control, or a stupid little thingymajig showing you what gear you are in never understood the need for them.
I always felt similar until I had cruise control, now I wouldn't be without it. Although I might be living in the past already, not sure if I'll ever spend days on the interstate crossing the country again.

I've never really been into bikes for the practicality aspect (if the weather's crap, I'll use the family VW Up - great wee car).

BUT, I'm very interested in what Triumph are going to come up with the new Tiger 1200 (must finally be getting old!).

I'm always reluctant to refer to these types of bikes as "adventure" bikes but they do look useful for long distance trips (and the rough, potholed roads in Edinburgh!).

Having had 2 bikes at the same time for a long time now, where one was a taller adventure style bike, it was always my first choice for longer trips or touring. Better view, more space and no tailbone soreness after half an hour.
As for cruise control, when you’re chewing miles in a state where cameras are hidden all over the place….it’s licence saving.
