Spoke to the dealer today to get a price on replacement pads for front and rear. Was gonna order them online but if they're cheap enough I'd buy local so I can do it this weekend. Anyway, the parts person said they needed my VIN # in order to tell me which pads... question is, don't all the model years have the same pads?

Stop screwing around with your dealer, buy some EBC sintered pads (HH) here:

Pick up some copper anti-seize at the autoparts store and you're set.

He's on the board here as Sidecarflip.

Keep it local (to the forum)

From EBC's site:

Quickly explained, semi metallic pads are blended with up to 30 or 50% cheap steel fibre, organic pads are made with man made fibres such as Kevlar or Twaron bonded together with a petrochemical resin and sintered metal pads are copper alloy fused together under heat and pressure.

EBC Brakes makes only Organic and Sintered Brake pads, we do not subscribe to the steel fibre technology as suitable for motorcycle brakes for numerous reasons.

If you do them yourself, follow the service manual instructions and CLEAN AND LUBE THE PINS!

It makes all the difference in the world.

Depending on the age of your bike, you may want to change the fluid as well.

Geek can tell you all about that.
