Thank you turbo. I may have had a little thread damage. I used a good screwdriver (craftsman with diamond dust coat). It bit stud but would only turn 45 degrees and then get stuck. I could turn it into the hole but not out past that point. I tried my easy out but they needed a pilot hole to get purchase. When I decided to epoxy a short shaft to the magnet I was measuring magnet diameter by comparison to some left handed drills I had. I turned the drill very slowly using first the 1/4 (maybe a little large) and the 15/64th (about right) when I noticed the drill edge was grabbing either the magnet or the remains of the threaded steel tube containing the magnet cylinder. And it was walking out. Ta da! I screwed the new plug in and out a few times until threads felt clean. I can think of at least three improvements Triumph could make but this is 2008 machine and I assume they’ve upped the game in last 13 years.
