I went down on my Sprint, a guy ahead braked hard just as I was looking away for a few seconds, miraculously the bike hit nothing, just slid a couple hundred yards down the road. I went down and filled out an accident report the next day, the cop wrote me a ticket for following too closely. I told him that was BS, he kind of said "I know, but my bosses expect me to write one in any accident". I requested a supporting deposition, and didn't get one. I went in with the prosecutor for a conference and started *****ing, as soon as I said I never got a supporting deposition, he said he would recommend dismissal, the judge did exactly that.

That is why one should ALWAYS request ALL the evidence in their possession that supports their charge(s). If they show up in court with ANYTHING different than what you received, move for a dismissal. Just doing that scares them off frequently and if it happens in court, it's automatic.
Remember this is 'Merica, the land where nothin' is nobody's fault! heh heh heh

They also need to figure out why the cop said of the last 14 accidents he worked 13 were at that curve, then less than 2 hours later another bike was layed down 15 feet from where your bike was. That's a bad road surface, and a good layer could probably get the county to pay for your damages.

I just got the estimate on the rocket. It is $7500. Let's see what the adjuster says.

I didn't know there may be design problems with the curve. Suing the agency responsible for building and maintaining this roadway is possible; but, extremely complex and difficult. Among other things, a traffic design engineer would have to be hired and then his investigation turn out favorable. $$$

I honestly just want out of the ticket. I was ten under the speed limit so I do not see how I was driving at an "unsafe speed."
