A new video was released on the bike today. The rider did not fit the picture of those i have seen on rockets at all. Imagine that. The crowd they are bidding for in the sales pitch does not exist. Yes we look at it and go "cool looking bike but" The others will buy Harley's and Indian's and ride their fashions and image over substance very well. Don't expect to run a cross very many on the open road.

I see another Harley in my future. Sorry guys but there really still is Something About a Harley. I've had three and miss them, the Shovel most of all. Another that I kick myself for selling. Sale included a king tour pack and a batwing fairing. El Stupido.

No they built it for the few that will spend the money on it. Novices that do not know any better. For those who think they are buying a special bike that is the latest and greatest. Been riding for awhile and know better than to buy a new production motorcycle designed for the in crowd. When i bought the Rocket X it was a proven bike. Been in production for ten years. People talk shi5 that it was just a special with a high price and no extra. No Shi% if it ain't broke do not go and fix it just make it look better. They did. This bike is designed and marketed for the in crowd. Wanting the latest and greatest. One up at the bar or restaurant. When and IF you ever buy a bike to ride let me know. How many miles on your bike their slick?(CanberraR3) I got 50,000 thousand miles on the X if you can top that i listen. No need to talk your way around it by saying i have multiple bikes or this and that. You either ride or you do not. This bike is a unproven design at a very high price to be sold at the Puppy crowd. Get real truimph your not selling to that crowd.

I am getting parts in for another rebuild on a Harley fatboy 2010. Third rebuild. Figure this time planning on a simple 124 cubic inch S&S. Last rebuilt was on a insane 124. Have a lot of time working on Harley's. Over 100,000 miles on the speedometer. Have not really rode her much after buying the Rocket X but figure what the bike manufactures are offering nowadays might as well.

They’re calling it “ultra-rare”, “ultra-premium” and “ultra-limited edition”. Maybe some will think it’s a collectable.

First up, Triumph hasn’t just changed the bike for the sake of it or to make it look different. Significant changes had to be made to get it compliant. That’s why the the Bonnevilles went liquid cooled and boosted to 1200cc. The Rocket isn’t immune from the need to change and Triumph should be applauded for updating it after near 15 years. Long overdue I’d say.

And seeing as you’ve asked, yes, I do have a few bikes. Not trying to “talk my way around” anything but in a little over 12 months I’ve put a whisker under 30,000km on my Tiger, 15,000km on my Thruxton, 7,000km on my Scrambler and have helped my wife put about 5,000km on her Street Triple. Disregarding the Street Triple that’s 52,000km in let’s say 13 months. That’s 32,000 miles or 2,500 miles a month. I could try and recall what I did on other bikes in that time or what I covered previously on other bikes I’ve iwned but can’t be bothered.

How long have you had your X? About 40 months isn’t it? 50,000 miles averaging about 1,250 miles a month.

So what’s your point?

I am using the information from the 2 Triumph dealers in S.W. Michigan. Supposedly Triumph held a dealer meeting where they unvailed the Rocket. At that "open house" the question possibility of a Touring Rocket was discussed. Not in the plans.

I’m sure you’re right about the Touring. That’s been coming (or rather, going) for a while now. That doesn’t exclude the possibility of another Tourer like the one in 2007, which was a Classic fitted out with touring gear. Even if doesn’t appear as a seperate model, the accessories will be there to build your own.

I am a patient man. I will wait to see if they make a touring model. My 2011 R3R is treating me just fine right now.
