Not Happy! 3rd brake bleed required.

get tuneecu or dealertool or get both (I have both) and get rid of dealer altogether.
we can do our own brake bleed because we have access to factory service manual provided by triumph.
I think of it this way, either we keep giving money to dealer for stuff which we can do by buying our own tools, so i would rather invest in tools than to give money to dealer.

I dont have that much deep pockets to spend thousands ( eventually) of dollar at dealer for service which I can do by myself so I started investing in tools and stuff after my first service.

coming back to brake issue, i hope it all comes down to brake hoses
I have to agree with you. This will be the last time. I can figure it out but just lazy and impatient. I should be able to do the easy stuff like the old days. I can screw it up as good as any dealer.👍

Just got a text from the dealer and evidentially Triumph is going to approve a 'good will' brake bleed for my Rocket. They call it the 'recall bleed'. Anyway I'm glad they are doing the right thing although we will see how long it lasts. If the bleed holds the correct pressure I should get it back tomorrow so at least it's $110.00 less. Cheers and thanks for the great info on this post going forward.

Sooooo. Picked up my Rocket today and paid only for the oil change and $90.00 to turn off the Spanner. The rear brake pedal was instant and hard. It was around 88 degrees so I thought I would see if there was any correlation with a hot engine/exhaust/seat like the last two prior times it went soft and bottomed out. I spent around 20 to 25 minutes out on the backroads and kept the RPM's up but used very little if any rear brake maybe 10%. When I applied the rear brake it was still strong. I putted home but kept the rpm's up a 'little' because I have always ridden like that and never have had any problems with anything. When I got home I pushed the rear brake and it went down about an inch more than it had been doing:confused:. I can't ride again until Wednesday or Thursday but I should know then if it's good or not. I'll make a quick post on it. Cheers.

Try to have two or three buddies around when you do it. One operating TuneEcu stroking the modulator, one on the master cylinder pumping and refilling it, and you on the bleeder valve with the mityvac drawing air out. Stop longer than a few seconds and the bubbles migrate up faster than you can pull them out. It's not easy doing all three by yourself. 🐙

I can get the friends although none I would trust around my Rocket...or Cars...or wife. But I get what you are saying. The dealer is around 25 minutes from here so now that I know they will bleed it for free I will just keep taking it back. If it continues and I mean where it has to be bleed every 6 months or sooner I will correspond with triumph and ask if they would approve of the other remedies the guys on the forum have talked about such as modulator replacements, different brake lines. Evidentially Triumph is scratching their heads over this one because it doesn't affect every Rocket. The dealer stated the newer BWM and Ducati are having the same problems with certain models. We shall see.

Sounds like a good plan.

There are a couple of places on the brake lines to check that might help. Where the braided line come out of the master cylinder they put a rubber isolator to keep it off the engine. Make sure it hasn't slid off the engine flat. Mine was down around the support grommet doing nothing.

Look at the front of the engine where the hard line runs up and make sure it isn't laying on the block. Gently bend it out if needed. I'm going to make some isolators out of rubber hose on that one and the hard line coming out of the modulator the next time I have the tank off.

I know what you mean about not trusting it. I'd like to ride up to West Virginia but not sure I trust it enough. I've never trailer anywhere but this could be the new norm. Good luck with it.

Good to know stuff.. Thank you stingray this is something even I can do. The dealer was explaining when they bleed the rear brake they have to apply heavy pressure at certain points in the bleed due to the lines raising and lowering. I have this feeling it's the engine heat. It's too much of a coincident that it happened twice in the same area while back roading when it was hot. There are guys on here scratching their heads wondering why 20% to 30% of us have rear brake problems when they don't. I don't know...

Soo… 72 hours ago I bled the brake using a full 0.5 liter fluid bottle and pulled out two one inch air bubbles and three inches of foam. Good for one day, faded a little the second, lost it completely before a crossroad today. It drank a quarter inch from the master cylinder reservoir. This bloody thing is thirsty.

Was yours exposed and not under the metal plate or did you pull it out just to show us. Mine is under the plate and it has to get reall hot there. The other 2 pics are like mine but a little wrapping on mine.

I guess they were too lazy to put it under the shield when the mids were installed. What does the front look like.
