Norton 850 Mk III

I just watched the Red Triumph vid from a few pages back

It absolutely made my skin crawl.......I felt like I was going to have a panic attack/ maybe a heart attack.

He was driving on the wrong side of the dang road, when he met some cars it took my breath...

Was it just me or did anyone else get that funny feeling watching that vid.

Oh........Very happy to see TC posting.

Oops I just looked at the date...........that was from Jan.

The one bike I regret letting slip away because we had both reached the limits of negotiation, he wouldn't go lower and I wouldn't go higher, was a 1974 John Player Replica 850 Norton. This was in 1983, when the Japs were just getting into bigger, faster and more reliable bikes, so I went that way. I still regret that move.

bob
The J A P bikes made those NORTONS seem like antiques I know In sold both

The Nortons were no match in performance or technology. The Brit bike era was over. However the brit bikes were loved, the Japanese bikes weren't. They were throw aways, rarely rebuilt or restored. An old Norton today is still considered a treasure, it matters not about their shortcomings. Finally today the old Japanese bikes have a following.

NOW thats silly the Brit bike era was over and they loved the new J A P bikes they were loved and still are and they are very collectable along withe the NORTONS, TRIUMPHS,BSA,etc all the older bikes are now collectable I know I have all makes of older collectable bikes

I been collecting and selling collector bikes for years. There are lots of brit bikes with high prices which equates to desire. Vincent's, Brough Superior, all the old 650 brit bikes. The Japanese bikes have only in the last ten years started to really be collectable. They will become more so as the generations that rode them are now collecting them and the brit bike generations are becoming to old. I sold a 69 Honda sandcastle in Japan for over 20000, that was big money for a Japanese street bike. I sold a Vincent Black Shadow last year unrestored for 110,000. Sixties Triumphs, BSA's, ETC, regularly fetch 10000 to 20000 and more at auctions. We have the biggest classic bike auction in the world here in Vegas every year. Restored Japanese street bikes go for under 10000 all day. Some exceptions of course but generally they are a bargain. All Race bikes with history any brand bring big money. I do think its changing though, the H2 for instance brings big money. The trouble with Japenese bikes is there were so many made and they were cheap when new.

Imafasto, here is a pic of my all steel 32 roadster. I traded it last year for a 911 Porsche but someone wanted the Porsche more than I did.

I went from a 750 Norton to an H1 Kaw. to me the Norton handled better but there was no comparison in the speed of the 2.

Have you seen the price of an H1 or H2 lately............OMG
But like all old things a lot of them come back worth way more than anyone could imagine. I would love to have the old 65 1/2 Mustang I bought in 1970( $500.00). It was a K code car that had the front end wrecked but had new fenders and hood in primer. No frame damage what so ever. I kept about 1 year and sold it for $500.00

If I only knew.....There is that IF again.

Art..... question please? How many M/C do you have????? I understand if you do not want to answer...It is like if you ask me how many guns do I have..............LOL
My answer will be .....2:D

I bought a 750 Combat Commando a week before I turned 17. Mother Sh*t ! Father said behave your self, yea' right Dad !

This is one bike that I build exhaust systems for today, see Viking Exhaust : NORTON
BUT! I will not build anything for the MkIII as the Exhaust ports can be all over the place, not consistently 1° off or anything, but all over the place.

Sad, but true.
