Triumph rocket 3 2010
Hi there am new to forum from north east UK I have owned my 2010 rocket roadster for just under 1 year now and has ran great until other day went out to garage to fire it up after been on trickle charger, turn the key no headlights however horn, rear brake light, indicators, dash and fuel pump engages, push the starter button and all I get is the starter relay click, I have taken battery off overnight to recharge and also tried a replacement battery and same happens, checked fuses all good, everything was fine when I put it away, I would appreciate any help if anyone has any idea what could be the problem before I fork out the big bucks at garage thanks

I'm not knowledgeable on the 2.3 Rockets but based on everything you have stated, i'd be thinking about the starter relay functioning correctly.
Can you swap it out for another one on the bike that has the same spec? This can often help to eliminate this as a faulty component before looking further for a possible culprit.
Some bikes have more than one of the same relay within the relay bank on the bike. Not sure if the 2.3 Rocket is like that.

Cheers for quick reply I have just had a check and there's 3 on left side and 2 on right I just switched a one out and still same click from relay, the most puzzling for me is the no headlights not even light on dash when I switch from high to low beam, I have had read a few thing on bad highlight wiring just no one with exact same problem, do you no if a simple bad headlight would cause a no start as I've looked at working diagram and a lot of stuff goes through the headlights, I can change oil and that's about it am no electrician

Ok. Next thoughts are:
Fuses......Are you sure you've checked ALL fuses. Sometimes there can be a fuse in the loom that isn't inside the fuse block.
Earth.......A bad earth could be the cause of your symptoms. Have a look for loose earth connections, corrosion etc... Connections to the starter motor.

based on this info
bad batteries
check voltage while trying to crank
bad purple wire?
check voltages at starter relay
hth

the answer is no
check for 12volts on each side of the fuses.
possible bad ignition switch (move bars back and forth to see if headlights come on and if it will start)
check bat voltage with headlights in the working position
does it have an alarm system?

Ive had this, needed new full power battery, they don't like low volts/amps, remember it's a car engine that needs a good kick. id also check clutch lever switch, just in case, look at side stand switch as well

Thanks for replys I'll have to wait few days before anymore tests as working away, doesn't have alarm, going to order a new battery as probably needs one soon anyways, the headlights not comming on at all just threw me a bit, no doesn't have alarm system

Ive got a lithium hybrid on mine, then last lot of cold weather has knocked it, but a quick charge and its fine, mine lives outside under a cover, if I ever get round to covering the drive its going on trickle charger during December to February, rest of year its used every day without issues

Forgot to mention headlight dipped beam comes on when I put parking lights on however not when i turn to start
