HEY sorry wasnt picking on you but I hear these rumors all the time and most never come to fruition I visited a company in FLA that said they had a 3000cc V twin that made over 200 Hp and they had the the fastest most powerful motorcycle on the planet . After seeing the supposed king of the cycles it also was just a couple of non running mockups that a chopper company was trying to create. Havnt seen anything thats impressive so far but all the makers come out with new models every season You mention the new SCOUT is a better bike than the Sportster I would hope that Indian could outperform that ancient design . I rode the Scout in FLA its nothing that I would purchase but some like it as you say Triumph has the new 1200cc watercooled twins that should perform as good or better than the Scout and will easily out perform the HD SPORTSTERS. Im sure we will find out how they compare soon enough. NOW i think the Scout should be compared to the V ROD as its a similar design .BUT it makes about 86 Hp and around 59 TRQ and thats not close to the V ROD wih 119 HP and 83 TRQ and testing the Scout it vibrates and buzzes at hiway cruise speed 70-75 mph , the brakes suck and i wasnt impressed with the looks or comfort I like the V ROD better but wouldnt buy one either so that being said i cant get excited about rumors coming form Victory or Indian as I dont like any of the bikes they produce at the moment .

Yeah, from all the numbers I have seen the new Triumph 1200 parallel is huge gain over the scout 69ci motor, let alone the 60 ci motor.

YES the new 1200 twins look great and they should perform well being watercooled and lightweight . Hoping to get one at CARPENTER RACING soon so we can modify that new engine and do some performance testing at the local race tracks and of course some extensive road testing .

THE SCOUT isnt as fast as the V ROD it runs 12.2 in the 1/4 mile but its the fastest INDIAN the larger INDIANS only run 13.7 1/4 mile times

The American makes are stuck so far in the past that the rest of the world is passing them by. Even the Brits. It would be nice to see Victory and Indian actually create modern designs and give up on the crazy vibrations of the 45 degree v twin. Motus is trying but they are too expensive. And they cheaped out because they ran out of money and put a chain final drive on a bike they designed for sport touring. Yuck !
 
THE Indians are nothing special just another big slow cruiser created to steal sales away from HARLEY and I dont like the retro styling that didnt look good 60 years ago YUCK
 
THEY are now making those 3 wheel sports cars I had to chuckle when I saw one of those in FLA caught in a tropical thunderstorm that thing was filled with water and I asked him why he didnt buy a Miata that had a convertable top etc. etc. he could buy a used one for $5000 or less LOL

That's my gripe with HD (among other things) and Indian, why do almost all of their models have to look like they came straight out of the 1950s? I don't get it. I don't like the transformer look either of many of the new bikes...why can't we get more "in between" models?
 

The reason is they sell mostly to old guys who remember that look but weren't able to buy one back then.
