What shocks are people using as replacements?

Progressive 444s are a vast improvement over the stock shockers. Other brands are just as good or better, but I am very happy with 444s, particularly on crappy secondary country roads when scooting along a bit .............. very happy indeed

I traded my tbird storm in for a R3 in part because the thunderbird costs a fortune to maintain compared to the r3. I'll give you an example. 12,000 mile valve ck on P-16/17 costs $1000.00, the R3 every 20,000 miles $550.00 so at 40k on the odo the bird out of pocket is $3000.00 and the R3 $1100.00 and they eat tires and back brakes about the same. Once I got over the hugeness of the rocket and took it for a test ride there was no going back to the Storm anyhow although I still prefer its looks .

I had a look...quite expensive :-/ What size did you replace the stock shocks with? (please) ;-)

12.5 inch .... which is very close to stock, within a mm or 2, I think. I bought mine from Speed Addict in the US which was the best price (shipped) I could find at the time. Less than half the price the Australian importers were charging ........ Progressive Cruiser Shocks 12.5" Black 444-4233B
