The Storm costs a small fortune to maintain at my shop I had to drop $1000.00 every 12,000 miles and tires like crazy I also traded my 1700 for the 2300 and wow.

Hi, I changed from Metzeler Marathons to Avon Storm (aptly named) on the rear and a Cobra on the front. I found that they lasted longer and the handling was fine. I did spend a long time getting the belt tension right, but once it was on the money, it made a noticeable difference.
I'm hoping I'll take to the Rocket X, as I did love that Thunderbird Storm

That Bonnie on steroids look of the Storm, cruiser style cluster in the gas tank, and modern electronics really turned me on, I even bought the extended warranty for my bird but then I did the math and cost of ownership when i'm putting 12,000 miles on in a riding season I tried the R3 and it took a few weeks to but, Riding the R3 on the hwy (like a jag) ripping past the cagers trying to box me in then engine braking before rear ending the car in front for 100 miles of I 90 on a sunday afternoon coming back from wisconsin is more fun than sex at this stage of my life and there's not many bikes made that behave like the R3r on the hwy.
To TheRedBaron, The ridiculous handling of the Storm won't be matched by the R3x no matter what but, guys are managing the pogo effect by changing the shocks and the R3's intake howl is a much nicer sound than all the strange engine noises coming out of the P-17.

we'll be near neighbors again in a year or so wife and i are looking for property on the gulf side and i'm working to make this the last my last chicago winter. Mcc triumph in villa park is where I bought my last 3 bikes, they moved up the street a mile or so and moved into the old car dealership and seem to be thriving.

Agreed, Steve. The handling is ridiculous, I went through foot pegs on the cornering. However, I like the extra clearance with the RX, it means I don't have to lift my leg up going around tight bends

I have been going to MCC forever. They were in that little building for years and they moved to the old Ford dealership. I rented a Triumph Trophy last year when I was in town. Good people there. Never bought a bike from them, but I was always stopping in shooting the crap with them. I lived about a mile away. Come on down! The sun is out and the weather is great!
