New Roadster and Question

Got my new Roadster on Saturday. Awesome. It is just fantastic. I can only just fit in my front garden but the effort is worth it!

On my precious Triumph's I have been used to changing up using no clutch. I noticed in the hand book for the Roadster it says you should always use the clutch. Is that true? What do you guys do?

I shift up from time to time without the clutch with no problem.. but I usually do use the clutch.. as long as your smooth and hit it right, it's no problem, but the Rocket has a boat load of torque that could screw a transmission real quick..

I always use it, and haven't had any problems yet.

Yep

I tried that too, coming from a Scrambler and a Street Triple.

USE the clutch... especially when new with the lighter break in oil...

Thats just my risk management hat on..


Its certainly not as easy to clutchless upshift or downshift - normally you can "feel" when you can do it - and whilst it feels new and unknown, it has a bit of resistance, so I backed off from ramming it home.

First time a scotsman has ever said he backed off from ramming it home..

Brighton's a bit far from here for me sorry Cheeky, I'll just stick to clutching and ramming it home!
Like you, I tried a tentative change up or two without the clutch, but it's still a bit too new and feels like it needs a good few thou on the clock (miles that is). It's such a light clutch anyway it's no chore.

How about not this weekend, but next? Weather is steadly getting better.

One thing... I took off my Summer screen and crikey the wind blast is noticeable. Like, a lot..! Motorway journeys I recommend the screen - any of them, just takes the edge off.
