I now run a new set of Hyper-Lites that are 16 LEDs each side, not 8. They are run & brake lights only.
The new & brighter LED I put in the OEM tail is:
Hope this helps . . .
I have three light meters.
ILT1700 meter is the spendy one that is NIST calibrated.
My favorite is the Minolta T-10M which has been NIST, currently out of cert date, but yet still very accurate.
My EXTECH LT300 is the least spendy and the first one I had.
I reckon to bring one to both East & West RAAs.
There is just one 1157 bulb in the OEM tail.
This is likely why it is so weak.
Below is the title for a two bulb pack: Boltlink 1157 7056 LED Brake Lights CREE 30w - Ultra Bright White 6000k 1200lumens LED Brake Lamp & Back up Light - All Bulbs Sizes LED Tail Lights - Pack of 2
But they are white LEDs, didn't Chris @barbagris post earlier in this or another thread that we should use red LEDs as the white 6000K does not suit stock red plastic lenses as well as red colored LEDs?

Well it is available in Red, Amber or White. I would take the 100w with a big pinch of salt though. How do you get the brake and tail to illuminate at different intensities though? Std bulb is twin filament to do that.
I just got some of the MAX Inc Chrome 4 piece LED indicator/running light/brake etc the same as Steve and a few others.

The OEM light is a white incandescent 1157 inside a red lens.
Seems a white LED should also work, but I do not know the science . . . yet.
I have read that a red lens works better with a red LED. Why the difference, I do not know and peeps reporting this do not explain how they know . . .
Perhaps there is a wave length or configuration difference between incandescent and LED???
