New Brake Recall!

Hi there sir! Can you give update on new bigger master cylinder on rear brake after installation??? Still good and work fine? My bike have no issues with rear brake they work but I got recall on mail and was on dealership and they said 14mm updated rear master cylinder instead original 12mm and some new rear caliper spacers for free!! Main question need to do it or not because my brakes work fine don’t want to go and get air after installation off new one my bike GT 2020 7400 miles!!
I had the same perspective and question as you earlier this year.
I got the work done in May.
I recommend that you have the work done, but don't shoot me down if your dealer makes a hash of it......precursor to the saying 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.
That said.....The way I think of it is, that they wouldn't have spent the money to carry out the recall if it wasn't worth doing.

your words make sense and I hope that the correctness of the step-by-step procedure and all the necessary spare parts for replacement they already had to find, and investing in free spare parts and work for which they pay dealers would not make sense if the reason was not found! I had no problems, and the bike is a 2020 GT model, and I didn't want to run into a problem with the rear brakes, which I never had in the pursuit of updated spare parts!

My rear brake post-recall is still doing fine (almost 10k miles later). Of course my dealer got the bleed fix right the first time too so your results may vary. I can't say I notice anything different about the new master cylinder vs the old one.

I did it also yesterday update on 14mm master cylinder and some spacer between caliper and brake hose! Feels hard like it was but pedal travel feels 1/3 shorter!! Hope it will stay like that because I have no problem before even with old one 12mm

New brake recall has become same old sh** to me. I finally got an appointment for next week for my rear brake. This is my 3rd time going back. That's not including the first time the dealer stated it was done before I bought it. So 4 times? I just don't get it. I use the rear brake 10% at max and just feather it. I live relatively near (20 miles) the dealer but if I lived 4 hours like some of you I would be a little more upset. I have to say it's beyond ridiculous. Maybe I'll set an all time record for rear brake Master Cylinder work on my GT. Like I stated on here before, I'll just make an appointment for my 5th brake job while I'm there. A preemptive strike if you will. :banghead:

Mine is ef'd again even after the recall. I've never has such an issue in 50 yrs of motorcycling. Engineered wrong.

@Mighty Mouse @stingray
Seems really strange that you're having continual problems with it.

Wondering if it might be:
- The service agent isn't doing the right quality of workmanship
- That there is something else in your brake system that is defective, so your symptoms are not being overcome just by swapping out the recall parts.
- You are the most unfortunate of folks that have received the majority of the batch of defective master cylinders.....(hard to believe, but hey....)

Fingers crossed, maybe this time. My Instrument panel isn't cracked, no vibration, doesn't pull to the left, idles good so I guess if this is the only problem then I'm doing better than some on here. I still love the Rocket I'm just not 'in love' with it anymore. I have to tell the kids.😭

Sucks to hear you have all that issues with your bike!! I bought used from the guy 2020gt and only one issue was oil leaking from under cooper washer on left side under intake! I was Fighting problem for one season till I figured out myself problem and fix it and till now I have no issues! It was not porosity in casting but bad machining surface with like rust craters under bolt and after I sand it down with 220 grit till now is dry and perfect!!! No cracks on dashboard, no pulling in to one side, vibration around 4000 rpm it’s must and I have no problem with rear brakes being first model I just changed it because was chance to ungraded 14mm mc for free!! Sorry to hear it but probably it was Friday afternoon build before long weekend! Sorry again with your luck but I’m in love in this thing and love even more longer I have it then day I bought it
