Making the 3R R'er

Adapted some Harley drag bars, stepping down from 1 1/4" to 1" to 7/8"
A much improved feel for my preferred riding position and substantially narrower than stock. I filtered through traffic jams, yesterday, like riding my CBR125.

These tells us us several things:
1: you can remove the underseat but, for me, it's ugly
2: the battery and the ECU have migrated...where?
3: Öhlins makes shock absorbers for the R3 (they would do well to offer them as an option with the purchase of the bike...)

I thought exactly that. Where's the battery?

New pipe in order to move foot pegs backwards.

I knocked up an English Wheel and shaped some stainless sheet, to match the tank strap.
Ties the hump in rather nicely, I think.

Well I took the plunge and started undoing a bolt here and a nut there and before I knew it I had the rear subframe off and in my hands. (It really wasn't that simple, thanks to some engineering degree designer who burried a single fixing deep within the twin walled battery box, that was a royal pita to get to.)
The Triumph subframe is a five piece construction made up of cast alloy pieces, yet it still weighs in at a hefty 8.0 kg! I guess that it does have to take two fatties.
I pulled out the TIG and went to work fabricating my own subframe, designing in my head as I drifted off to sleep each night and putting my plans into place each morning.
A week's work and she's bolted back together and ready for the road again.

The next job is to make some CF infill panels, to cover the electrics, a couple of plugs for the end tubes and then look at moving the pegs back a couple of inches.

Completely agree with you ! You can also add “put the registration plate under the seat backrest” and it will be one of the perfect R3 R !

Just two questions:
- do you see anything in your mirrors ?
- why is your handlebar so raised at the ends? question of comfort? (I think it's ugly...)

Lol. Mirrors are mainly to keep it legal. I can see behind, just.
The bars are turned up for clearance between switch blocks and tank.
I fabricated my own bars, from Harley drag bars. Then fitted the Triumph switch blocks. The unique Triumph fixing system, for switch blocks, means that they are fixed to wherever you drill the slotted hole for the fixing peg. When I set everything up for ergonomics, they were great but touched the tank on full lock. Doh!
I can either raise the bars or pull them apart again and make new holes. One day.

I told myself that this position of your mirrors was... original ! As for your HD drag bar, it's already good that you took the time to adapt it to the Rocket because Triumph really did everything to piss off owners with this handlebar... Even changing the rubber on the handles is a pain... I managed to install "classic" mirrors on the axles of the brake and clutch levers... two weeks to think about making it work in order to remove these big **** mirrors at the end of the handlebars. Finally, you did a fantastic job with the installation of your saddle, well done ! even if I don't like it I salute the quality of your work!
