Early, most likely late winter, 2006 at engine number 228390 onward. My engine number is 257625 and Bart's engine number is a couple hundred earlier but still okay. I don't know if the engine numbers are sequential or in a family but according to the dealer that Bart uses we are both past the sprocket modification and I hope that both of our Torsional dampners have the bearing with the shield facing toward the bevel box and not the other way around.

Any bike with the last 6 of the serial number (stamped on the case, right had side just behind thye footpeg/floorboard) beyond 228390 is good to go. Any below that number is suspect and could fail. I don't believe they will all fail. I suspect that there are more mitigating circumstances involved other than just the sprocket design. Even maintenance intervals, riding style, oil brands and even the relative torque on the fasteners during initial build could be contributing factors.

Just like the spoke issue on the Bonnies. My '03 T100 is a prime-time candidate for rear wheel spoke breakage but I've never had any spoke problems at all and with the sidecar, I put extreme side loads on the spokes, loads that normal bikes never have to bear but my spokes continue to this day to be tight with no singns of fatigue at the spoke nipples.

As long as Triumph continues to address the problem with timely repairs at no out of pocket expense to the owner, unless your bike is affected, I see no point in elevated blood pressure. If it goes south, get a re-fit.

Triumph have told my bro that they will repair his R3 but he will have to pay the labour charges as his bike is out of warrenty. That charge is around 80dollars U.S. per hour. Al.

My question is simply what Triumph is doing as far as a warranty for the labor and parts? Are they allowing an extended warranty on the engine to cover workmanship or is it an 'out the door and forgetaboutit deal?

Finally, maybe your loss in mileage could be attributed to, in part, a tight engine or maybe the new tune which I'm sure was loaded in your ECM.

Hey Flip, thanks for your comments. No additional warranty, I was told that if the parts that were installed failed Triumph will cover the loss. We will see?!?!?! My warranty ends in July of 2008.

I believe silent is a good choice phrase.......

Oh well, I will put as many miles as I can b4 the warranty is up.

At this time, I am glad it is over, the bike looks great in my garage. Now I just need ridin' weather...looks like 44 degrees this Sunday, looks pretty promising?!?!?!?

The pictures posted by Pigger tell a lot, that is, lots of parts...everywhere. Run it like you stole it. Get yourself a heated suit like a Widder or a Gerbing and ride that sucker so long as the roads aren't bad.

Bart and I are breathing relatively easier with our high serial numbers but, you know, **** happens.

Engine Running/Riding Update....

Well, I have captained 300+ miles and the bike is running great.

The paint can rattle, is no longer heard. Interestingly, I never really noticed how bad it was until after the rebuild. If you have it, I would think that a valve adjustment might remove the rattle??? Mine is gone. Shortly after I bought the R3, I noticed the rattle and the dealer I bought the bike from said that is normal. Well, first hand, it is not...

I also noticed, and don't know why, but the clunking shifting noise is not as loud as it used to be?????

My gas mileage is still not what is was b4 the rebuild, I am hoping it gets better. It was a balmy 39 degrees here today, and a group of us rode over 100 miles. With several hot beverage stops....

So far, so good..........
