Hi my name is Pete and I live in Australia and I am just doing some reading before buying. I have been riding for about 40 years now, my brother had a classic back in 09 and it was nice to ride but he turns over bikes ever 2 years so we never did see how the reliability of the panned out. When it was sold it only have 7000 klms on it.
Any feedback would be welcome.
Cheers Pete
Welcome and all I can say is " A faint heart never won a fair Maiden" The only reason Rocket Captains look back is to see the other they left the lights with!!!!
Buy a Rocket and come for a visit. 30 Km's east of Queanbeyan.
I've got over 100,000 klms on my 2009 purchased Standard. It's the longest I've held onto a bike myself to be honest. Been riding for 38 years myself. Love my R3 and i'd buy another one tomorrow. Still get a buzz when I roll that throttle on . Welcome to the asylum mate ... always room for another Aussie
Pete - I've done 20,000m on my 2010 roadster and no probs so far. Did the Tune ecu re-map to open things up a bit with Tors at 5,000m now it sounds and goes a lot better
I've been riding for 40+ years too so go for it and enjoy while you can!
And it's lighter than a Classic (by a few Kg but every little helps..)
Once you have performed your due diligence and then realize that no other bike truly compares with the R3, Pete, all other considerations go out the window and you shall, as many others have before you, succumb to the inevitable... Resistance is futile!
Welcome mate. I see you've hit on the concern we all have. How can a 2300cc, under stressed motor made by the oldest motorcycle company in the world be expected to last more than a couple of years?? Easy. These things are strong and I, like almost all of us on here, get nothing but pleasure from it. I ride mine every day and know I can rely on it to get me where I'm going and do it better than anything else. Just do it, you won't regret it.
