The suggestive uniform (Jersey) Colombian cyclists participating in the Giro of Tuscany, which resembles the naked participant at the height of the pubis, sparked criticism in Colombia and provoked the reaction of the Bogotá cycling League.
The women's team of human Bogota, which participate in the Edition number 19 of the Giro of the Tuscany, presented a striking red and yellow uniform which has a beige strip that resembles the skin bare from the waist to the English.
After disclosed the Jersey photography, social networks boiled in Colombia with ridicule and criticism.
Before the controversy increased, the Bogotá cycling League issued a statement in which "regrets the controversy" and "disrespect and mockery".
"9 months have already elapsed in which cyclists compete with this uniform and only up to date clothing is mocked, product who can only do this, a means of communication or a sensational person", said the League.
Also added to the uniform "was created without malice, without any intention of insinuating or, much less, use women to promote it or to which she may be an instrument to market the product of the sponsors of this equipment".
As specified in the statement, the Jersey was designed by one of the same members of the team, the athlete Angie Tatiana Rojas, and endorsed "by her teammates and sponsors".
According to the League, the picture showing the uniform has "visual effect" which does not correspond to reality. "It is not fair, then, with these athletes and their sports efforts that Colombians themselves strive to defend the vision of a medium or a sensationalist Communicator seeking a pad and a skin color, which never wanted to insinuate", concludes the League.
The riders who make up the female human Bogota team are Angie Rojas, Laura Lozano, Luz Adriana Tovar, Ana Cristina Sanabria, Argenis Orozco and Lina Duenas.
