Long Haul Saddle/Backrest Question

I've just installed my Long Haul Saddle and backrest combination. comfort seems first rate.

However, my bike is occasionally ridden in the rain down here in South Florida and is occasionally parked out in the rain. There is an open space around the backrest entry point and mechanism. Is there any way to prevent the mechanism from rusting after exposure to water? Is the interior seat material likely to get overly wet? Is this anything to worry about?

All constructive opinions welcome.

I see bikes parked all the time with black trash bags over the seat but that's tacky. I know Corbin makes custom covers for their seats (or used to), can you check with the seat maker if they have something that looks nice? Other than some WD40 on the mechanism for rust, I'm at a loss. Maybe someone else has dealt with that opening.
I have a cover for my YoungGuns saddle, but never use it. I should since the ass indention holds water on the leather. I've been getting by with keeping a towel in the saddle bags to wipe off the seat before I leave. Not a good idea, but I'm lazy. lol

I have the Russel seat and bought a cover from them. It has a sleeve built in to cover the back rest as well. Also came with cover for the passenger back rest as well.

Thank you. A seat cover may be just the way to go - at least while parked. I don't think I'd use one while riding.
