I think most guys just use a general purpose motorcycle lift and go directly under the engine. That was the answer I got a couple of years ago, anyway.

I'd suggest reaching out to FlipMeister (Sidecar Flip). While he's finishing up the R& D on his manual bike lift he is using an Ingersoll Rand air-powered overhead hoist (alot!). He has some pics of his setup posted on here somewhere...

I thread straps around the shock mounts to hoist it up to change the tire.

I'd suggest a center stand but I know how much grief I went through installing mine.
