Lifting a Roadster safely

That doesn't solve the problem of being able to lift the bike off both wheels at the same time though.

I think the lift i use pretty much has to lift the rear wheel before it will lift the front wheel,which is annoying. There is another lift i have seen on this site years ago ,that lifts the whole bike waist height off the ground using only one pillar with two legs. Bloody expensive though,from memory

If you just want to change tires then your method is fine. If you want to do anything else, the table lift is the way to go. Mine has a rear hatch that's removed to drop the rear wheel out (handy to lift the front off the table too).

I bought mine from rkt88 when he moved to Florida.
We met halfway between Central Jersey and Maryland to close the deal ;-)
I use a heavy duty drill to raise and lower it. It is a marvelous thing and really scary when it's 2 feet up in the air.

I used to have two triangular brackets with pins for my old Rocket but when I got the Roadster, I got a pal to make two new ones with holes instead of welded pins. These I painted black and bolted them in position permanently. No-one notices them. They are bolted with just enough slack to let them rotate as the jack picks them up. Someone did the calcs on the 8mm mild steel bolt and reckoned they were good for the loading. They have been Ok over the past 5 years.

This is the Big Blue Lift which I have. The major problems are #1..its weight! OMG! The other problem is that the cross bars obstruct the oil change plugs. The lift is expensive and a pain in the ass to set under the bike. I hardly ever use this $800 + item!
It is, however, a very well made and solid/VERY STRONG item with which you have no fear about lifting any big bike way up and leaving it there for the winter! I'll sell you mine at a great price!

Well that's a major problem if you can't get to the oil drain plugs! I guess I'll pass on that, it sounds a head ache.
