Let's talk mirror replacements

My black tear drops don't vibrate at all , must be a smooth operator

I dont know but I wished I could figure it out. I took mine off tuesday just to see what is going on. The little spacer, coupling, or whatever you call it was wrapped around itself on one mirror and on the other it looked healthy but both mirrors vibrate. I fixed the one that did not look correct. I wonder if its just the Roadsters that do this?

Just came back from getting my tyres fitted an checking for any visible vibration from the mirrors ,absolutely none .on my old 72 Bonnie the mirrors youst to vibrate at idle but that was all .a friend of mine has low rider and it vibrates a fair bit but I think that may have been a part of the design .i type of like it.by the way I got me tyres fitted for mates rates.

OK, cardinal93,
You kind of got me here. I be such an electrical drongo that I had my brother do the actual wiring.
I just called him and he simply followed the direction that came with the mirrors - no problems.
It has been awhile since we did the install, but from memory there are two wires to each signal
and these were used to connect to the mirrors. I don't believe the stock signal bulbs were two
stage and there were no running lights. Remember that I removed those ugly-ass stock signals and run only the mirrors.

It's all good, Bull! I certainly rely on other's expertise in depth before I even come close to cutting wires
My mirrors had three wires: the blinker, ground, and a red wired intended to make the front of the mirrors run as parking lights. I simply soldered the red ones into the parking light wires running into my headlamps. Works great! You're right, those blinkers are bright!
As for the relay, I have one, but didn't install it initially because of running the normal lights with the LEDs. However, while they don't blink "really" fast, the LEDs do blink slightly faster, and give a loud audible "clicking"; so I'm thinking of going back in and installing the relay.

Not sure what the relay will do.
Just know I didn't use one and all works fine.

I am not in any way an "expert" on auto electrics however I know that when we ran multiple running lights on trucks and trailers, up to 30 clearance and side lights ,our auto electrician always used relays ,to take the load of the switches and put a heavier cable to the inlet / outlet of the relay ,the cable from the battery through the switch to the relay can be light(pardon the pun) as it only trips the relay, the power to the lights is via a heavy cable direct from the battery to the relay , then switched through the relay to the lights, I think the same principle only on a smaller scale would apply on bikes for extra lights ,horns ect. as on the rocket a lot of the electrical load is via the ignition switch it may preserve the life of this unit

I was wondering if they were a distraction at night ,on my R3T the blinkers are self cancelling and have been told the unit is load sensitive if the electrical load on the unit is changed by changing wattage then the self cancelling ability is compromised (compromised is a strange word ) I was once caught in a compromising situation with married lady ,I'm not like that anymore!

If you add this to existing turn signals the cancelling feature will still work.

Maybe try running the mirrors without those little sleeve thingos .. worth a whirl mate. Know the mirrors seem to tighten down better without them on my bike.

I shaved about an 1/8 of an inch of the bottom of the stems refitted the sleeve things and was able to tighten them more than before... no loose mirrors and no vibes...

Well I thought about that but without the sleeves the mirrors flop around in the hole. They wouldn't tighten up at all without the sleeves.

I have the Oval ones with the solid stems..you can also get the stems with 2 or 3 holes drilled in them
They have quite a good field of vision too
