Hello fellow rocketeers. I have had my new R3 for three weeks and it's done 300 miles (weathers been crap) over four short rides. Everytime I come home there is coolant on the left side of the engine, some damp and some dried on. Had it back to dealer who checked it out and said it will settle amd find its own level.
Getting a tad annoyed with a stained messy looking bike every time I come in. Any thoughts guys. Thanks
 
Its just marking its territory
when you say left side is it down low below the water pump or above the left front of the transmission. Check the hoses on the thermostat housing especially the little one. And at 12 Oclock right above the thermostat housing is a bleeder bolt make sure it is not loose in the old days it had a copper washer behind it like the bleeder on the water pump. that bolt is the highest water access on the engine. you can check the top hose on the radiator from the right front with a long screw driver. the other end is on the water pump. Also on the right side lower corner right inside the mesh grill you will see where the other end of the little lower hose you first checked on the thermostat housing. Any problems and I will try to get a picture or two off my bike to help you but besides what I listed the only others are the two large hoses on the pump one on the radiator and the other to a flanged fit in the top right front of the radiator. which is probably the hardest to see but the easiest to foll from since there is only two off the pump.
 
Somewhere between max and min but really difficult to see. I've been shining a good led torch through it to try and see the level
 
Ask the dealer if he is paralyzed and if not tell him to fill it correctly, with that being said at least once a year(summer time) my bike will wet its self after a good run usually only does it once a year.
In fact if your dealer is telling you he can not be bothered check and adjust the level yourself, are you sure it is not the goop they cover the engine with for shipping some times takes a wee while for it to burn off.
 
It looks like the engine has been sprayed with coolant. I can't pin point where it's from but it's under the bottle and backwards right to the exhaust shield
 
Make sure the top of the coolant over flow is pushed on all the way. I did a coolant change on mine and couldn't figure out where the coolant was coming from until I closely examined the top and saw where I had it on but not all the way pushed down. It leaked exactly as you explained.
