Keyless Ignition

Ok, back to my original question. How do I hook this thing up?

IDK is the final authority on this but, take the red and black wires that are together and hook those to your battery ( red to 12v+ pos., black to 12v- neg.). Then take the white and black wires that are together and hook those to the relay (white to post 85, black to post 86). If it doesnt work and you have hooked the red & white wires correctly. Try switching the grounds. They may be backwards, assuming you have hooked all other wires per IDK's instructions.

Biker1059, reference Cryians diagram on Headlight relay install with pics post #33. Shows the neg or black wire connected to post 85 on the relay. I only mentioned switching the grounds because I wasnt sure if the supply ground was seperate from the actuation ground which would make sense for the switch, but after thinking about it a ground is a ground & IDK's suggestion makes more sense.

I just did this on my Roadster & it works, so you can add the Roadster to the "works with" list. Some of the wire colors were different, but the important ones (blue/white, avoiding orange) are the same. I did encounter a problem, which made me glad I had my key w/ me.
Riding the bike and just like that, ignition shut off. Pulled over, got out my key & went home. I used mostly "Posi-Lock" brand Posi-taps to tap into the wires. For one wire (ran out of Posi-taps) I used a tap you usually see locally (auto store, etc), which you clamp on w/ pliers. Turns out something physically stressed the wires a bit (??), which pulled one of the wires out of the clamp and shutting the ignition off.
I've never liked those clamp-on wire taps. They beat up the wires too much.
I'll re-do that one wire when I get some more Posi-taps.
For the record, Posi-Lock (http://www.posi-lock.com/) has THE best wire tapping/joining/yadda yadda stuff I've ever used.

Sorry I didn't reply back. It was bad connections, got it sorted out with the help of IDK. Working perfectly.

took a little over an hour, let me know how you do on yours

sorry I missed you post earlier

Finally got all the parts together & the time to do it. It took about 3 1/2 hours, but I wanted to make this a permanent install & disassembled the connector so I could do a mechanical crimp & shrink sleeve the connection ( seems as though some of the captains had trouble with some connections losing continuity, not happening here). One thing I did do different, instead of splicing back into the blue/white cable from the relay pin 30. I went straight to the battery from pin 30 with a 20 amp fuse in between. Everything else was done per IDK's instructions.
Cattail of 5 plus one.

One down. Four to go.

The one wire by itself is for a voltage gauge later.

Tucked in all nice & neat

This is an EXCELLENT mod. Really cool not to have to use a key.
Huge thanks IDK for makin it possible.

I count six wires add orange with green stripe, but mine is done. Much thanks to all that contributed.

Did not mean to double post on the same topic but double click the attached photos for close up.

just recieved my remote in the mail today, orderd from the link that IDK posted and it does have a cover that slides over the on/off buttons , i will try to hook it up this weekend . wish me luck
