Last call for anyone interested in the Kaoko Throttle Lock. If I can get 12 buyers, we can get a great discount. I only have 4 buyers now. PM me if you're interested . If not, I'll bite my lip and buy one for full price.

Well, I've looked at several throttle locks, to include ThrottleMesiter, FlipMeister, BrakeAway, Vista Cruise, Manic Salamander and Koako.

The Kaoko has a great reputation among those who have installed and used it. As well, it looks good and matches the bar ends like no other throttle control does.

I've wanted one for some time now but am too cheap to spend $110 plus shipping.

Looks like a throttlemeister with a thumb wheel. Should make it easier to turn having a big toothed adjuster sticking out.

They've been reviewed pretty well.

Man, I just can't find the PERFECT accessory for my bike. I second guess everything I buy and then buy more.

It's a vicious circle. Someone stop me, please!

Just be aware on the Kaoko, that the ribbed portion does crowd, a little, the throttle. It's not bothersome, but I am aware of it when I'm using it. I don't keep it on the bike at all except when I am going on a long trip. Around town it stayed in one of the beetle bags.

I didn't think about that, I can see how it might get in the way, especially with big gloves.
I like the twist type locks, they are handy on rough roads where the jolts would cause the throttle to burp from arm movement. A small twist puts just enough drag on the throttle so it doesn't move so easily.

I'm not a fan of any throttle lock that you have to overpower or manually disengage if something unexpected comes up.

I paid a few bucks extra to get the Break-Away. Since it cuts out automatically as soon as you tap on the front brake, it's one less thing to worry about in an emergency.

Since Arizona isn't as flat as Florida, I end up only using it for short periods to rest my wrist. For cruising, I use the Throttle Boss for my Kuryakin (yeah I know I butchered the Sp) grips. It allows me to make small adjustments to speed without keeping my hand wraped around the throttle.

You have a clutch on the left hand, brake/throttle on the right and of course the right foot brake. You would just about have to fall off the bike to not slow or stop in an emergency even with a throttle friction lock cruise. I think they over sell the "safety" issue to charge more for a lock that is bulky and usually unsightly. IMHO
You can't even tell a bike has a throttlemeister or something similar on it when the decals are removed. I like the clean, uncluttered look, simplicity and lack of things sticking out around the throttle to snag on stuff.

I know I'd still stop, but not quite as quick. Since cutting out the throttle the instant I touch the break may save me the few feet of stopping distance I need to avoid nailing something that darts out in front of me, I'll pay the extra C note.

And IMO, the Break-Away isn't "unsightly". :)

Did you get one?

DanDiego, did you ever get enough orders together to get a discount? I'm interested in buying a Kaoko for my R3. I previously tried out the FlipMeister version but swapped bikes with my brother one day during a trip and forgot to tell him about it. He really freaked and between the safety lectures from the other senior riders and his reaction I decided to remove it.

All I really want is a friction lock that I can use momentarily to shake some blood-flow back into my hand during long rides. I use a CrampBuster and love it, but my hand tends to go to sleep sometimes and a few seconds of shaking some blood back into it does the trick, so I just want a simple one-handed solution.

I installed a $40.00 Universal Vista Cruise, works great, but had to make modifications to get it to fit that are just...well, southern engineered and ugly.

I've had my Throttlemiester for over 2 years now and use it every time I ride. Still have Zero complaints about it and still have not had anyone ever notice it's even there. Guys who have ridden the bike never knew it was there either. For me the fact that it works every time, all the time ... and that it's totally invisible, is it's best selling point. I'm still sold even after the long term review.
